The young man overused his eyes and caused retinal detachment. The doctor said that he should have fundus screening regularly.

The young man stared at his computer at work and watched live broadcasts on his phone after work, so his eyes went on strike. On the 10th, during a follow-up examination, the young man said that he no longer overused his eyes.

Xiao Zhang, 23 years old this year, has 700 degrees of myopia. He works in Internet operations and works in front of the computer for nearly 10 hours a day. On October 31, Xiao Zhang watched live broadcasts at home for five or six hours. On November 3, when he was at work, he found that there were flashes in front of his eyes when he was looking at the computer. The flashes lasted for a short time and repeatedly, which affected his work. Feeling bad, he asked for leave and rushed to the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University for examination.

Wu Jianhua, deputy director of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Hubei Medical Association and chief physician of the Department of Fundus Diseases at the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University, carefully inquired about Xiao Zhang's condition after receiving the patient. After relevant fundus examinations, he diagnosed Xiao Zhang with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in the right eye and retinal degeneration in the left eye. He said there were two options: Option one, you can try to use laser to surround the lesion to avoid progression of the disease; Option two, immediate surgical treatment is recommended.

Xiao Zhang was shocked! How did he suddenly get offline?

"The main reason is high myopia. As the axial length of the eye of people with high myopia gradually becomes longer, the retina will be stretched thinner and thinner. The cause is excessive use of the eyes, which leads to retinal detachment," Wu Jianhua explained.

Xiao Zhang finally discussed with his family and decided to have laser observation first.

During the follow-up examination, Wu Jianhua said that Xiao Zhang's lesions after laser treatment had recovered much better than expected. Xiao Zhang was very happy to hear the doctor's words. "After returning home, you need to lie down flat, be careful not to strain your eyes, and do not do strenuous exercise. Come to the hospital for follow-up examinations regularly." Wu Jianhua reminded.
