What is the cause of cervical congestion? Common reasons include:

Cervicitis can often cause cervical congestion. The stimulation of sexual life can also cause cervical congestion. Cervical leukoplakia is also a common factor of cervical congestion. Women with cervicitis must seek timely treatment to avoid more serious conditions such as cervical erosion.

1. Cervical leukoplakia: Cervical leukoplakia is a white, opaque, patchy lesion that appears in the vaginal part of the cervix. Simple leukoplakia of the cervix often has no obvious symptoms. If it is combined with cervical erosion or endocervical endometrial eversion, there will be increased leucorrhea, or occasional bloody vaginal discharge and contact bleeding.

2. Cervical cancer : Uterine cancer is one of the common cancers in the human body. Contact bleeding may be one of the early symptoms of uterine cancer, often after sexual intercourse or during vaginal examination; vaginal bleeding is extremely irregular, usually a little at first and then more, or sometimes a little and sometimes more, but some patients have heavy bleeding after the first contact, which is often caused by rupture of small arteries. Sometimes vaginal bleeding may also occur after straining during a bowel movement. 3. Cervical erosion: Due to the chronic inflammation of the cervix, there is a large amount of purulent secretions discharged, which soak the epithelium of the external os of the cervix, causing it to lose its vitality and form desquamation and ulcers. This is the fine granular, shiny bright red area around the external os of the cervix that is often seen in clinical examination.

4. Cervical ectropion: The cervix may be torn during delivery, induced labor, or abortion. If not repaired promptly by surgery, the scar tissue may contract and cause the cervical opening to ectropion. If combined with infection, chronic cervicitis will develop, the leucorrhea will be purulent and there will be contact bleeding.

5. Cervical polyps: Inflammation is the cause of polyps. Polyps originating from the uterine tube mucosa are soft, bright red, and fragile. They bleed when touched lightly and can be found during a gynecological examination. Larger polyps can cause increased vaginal discharge, bloody vaginal discharge, or contact bleeding, especially a small amount of bleeding after sexual intercourse or straining during bowel movements. These symptoms are similar to those of early cervical cancer.
