Through examination, Chenchen and Xixi were diagnosed with congenital cataracts in both eyes and needed surgical treatment. On November 2 and 3, Dr. Wang Yong, deputy director of the hospital and chief physician of cataract and presbyopia, successfully performed femtosecond laser cataract removal and lens implantation on the two sisters. Currently, the sisters' vision is recovering, and they will need to cooperate with amblyopia training in the future.

"Congenital cataracts are one of the main causes of blindness and visual disability in children. The incidence rate among infants and young children is about 0.5%, which seriously affects children's growth and learning. If not treated in time, the children may suffer from amblyopia or even lifelong disability due to the obstruction of the cataract, which will also have an adverse effect on their future work." Dr. Wang Yong said that most patients with congenital cataracts develop the disease slowly and generally do not feel any discomfort, especially children, who will not tell about their condition, so parents can easily ignore their children's eye problems.

Dr. Wang Yong emphasized that parents should observe their children's behavior more often and take them to a regular hospital for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible if they find any abnormalities. At the same time, parents should take their children to a professional ophthalmology hospital for professional eye examinations and keep records to ensure early detection, early intervention, and early treatment of any vision problems.
