How long does pregnancy nausea last?

Pregnancy is not an easy process, so all mothers are great. During pregnancy, women not only have to face various uncertain risk factors, but also have to face the uncomfortable symptoms that pregnancy brings to their bodies. When women are about three months pregnant, they will experience nausea and stomach upset, which makes most pregnant women very uncomfortable. How long will nausea last during pregnancy?

How long does nausea last during pregnancy?

About three-quarters of expectant mothers will feel nauseous or even vomit frequently during the first three months of pregnancy. Nausea usually starts around the 6th week of pregnancy, but may begin as early as the 4th week. Over the next month or so, the symptoms will become more and more severe.

About half of expectant mothers no longer feel nauseous by 14 weeks of pregnancy. For most of the rest, it will take about a month before the nausea symptoms gradually subside. However, morning sickness may return later and continue throughout your pregnancy.

Ways to relieve morning sickness

1. Don’t force yourself

Try to avoid foods or smells that might make you feel sick. If you feel like you're nauseated no matter what you eat, don't worry. Eat things that whet your appetite, even if they don't give you a balanced diet. No matter what it is, eating a little is better than eating a large meal and then throwing it all up.

2. Eat cold food

Try eating foods that are cool or at room temperature, as the smell of these foods is not as strong as hot foods.

3. Snacks at night

Place some simple snacks, such as cookies, by your bed. When you wake up, you can eat a few cookies first, then rest for 20 to 30 minutes before getting up. If you wake up in the middle of the night feeling nauseous, you can also eat some cookies to relieve the pain.

4. Eat small, frequent meals

Or eat some snacks at any time and don't let your stomach be empty for a moment (an empty stomach is the easiest to cause nausea). Also, eat bland foods that are rich in protein, which can help curb nausea. But, all in all, you still have to eat something that can whet your appetite.

5. Avoid high fat

Avoid eating high-fat foods as they take longer to digest. Avoid greasy, spicy, sour, and fried foods, which can irritate your already fragile digestive system.

6. Drink water in small sips

Don't drink too much! Although drinking water is very important to prevent dehydration, don't drink it all at once and fill your stomach up, because then your stomach will not be able to hold other anti-vomiting foods. If you vomit frequently, try a sports drink that contains glucose, salt, and potassium to help replace lost electrolytes.

7. Avoid taking pregnancy vitamins on an empty stomach

Instead of taking your prenatal vitamins in the morning on an empty stomach, try taking them with food or at night before bed. You can also ask your doctor if you can temporarily switch to a pregnancy supplement that contains less iron, since your fragile digestive system is already having a hard time tolerating this mineral.

8. Try foods containing ginger

Studies show that ginger can make your stomach feel better. Make yourself a cup of ginger tea by chopping up some ginger and brewing it with hot water. Ginger candy is also a good choice.

Morning sickness is a very painful thing. For pregnant women, it is really uncomfortable to not be able to eat and to vomit. So you can try the above methods to relieve the symptoms of morning sickness. I also heard that vitamin B6 can relieve morning sickness, so you can try asking your doctor.
