With mixed feelings, I walked into the cinema and watched the film "Chinese Doctor" directed by Mr. Liu Weiqiang. I personally experienced and participated in the anti-epidemic work in Beijing in 2020. Although it was only a week, I still think it was the most unforgettable and unremembered period of my life. The film fully reproduces what Wuhan experienced in 2020 when the novel coronavirus outbreak occurred. The hospital infrastructure and settings in the film are replicas, and the medical equipment: monitors, defibrillators, CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) blood filters, and ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) are all real equipment, not props. This shows the concentration and work spirit of Hong Kong director Andrew Lau in his work. The film begins with the public health clinical events of a series of lung infections in Wuhan before the Spring Festival in early 2020. Mr. Zhang Hanyu plays the role of Zhang Jingyu, the dean of Jinyintan Hospital in Wuhan, Hubei. From the beginning, facing the pressure, Mr. Zhang Hanyu, a Beijing native, said in the "unreliable" Wuhan dialect during the meeting: "Accept as many patients as there are." Then, the number of patients who came to see the doctor was beyond his imagination. In order to compete for a bed, there was even a situation where medical staff were squeezed and injured. The audience felt the urgency and even suffocation of the epidemic from the beginning. At that time, people knew too little about the disease and had too little experience, so most people adopted symptomatic treatment strategies. The extreme shortage of medical staff, the panic evacuation of logistics and health workers, and the constant update of the number of cases of the affected population, these early contradictions were reflected in the film without any hesitation. The lack of supplies, the basic oxygen source of the hospital, and the overload of electricity consumption pushed the role of Dean Zhang Jingyu, played by Mr. Zhang Hanyu, to the edge of a cliff. Yuan Quan plays the role of Dr. Wen Ting, the director of the intensive care unit, and another actress plays the role of the director of the anesthesiology department. Although they have different personalities, they both show the courage to take on responsibilities under heavy pressure, or the courage to do something even though they know it is impossible. This reminds me of my colleagues. Yi Yang Qianxi plays a doctor on the big screen for the first time. He is a newly graduated resident doctor. His imitation of the senior doctors' operation techniques during EBUS, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and tracheal intubation shows his efforts and helplessness in accepting the task. The subsequent story tells about the medical teams from all over the country rushing to Wuhan for support. There are two representative figures: Wu Chenguang, the leader of the Shanghai medical aid team to Hubei, played by Mr. Li Chen, and Tao Jun, the leader of the Guangdong medical aid team to Hubei, played by Mr. Zhu Yawen. The two people with different personalities and backgrounds show very different states. Wu Chenguang, played by Li Chen, is a doctor in Shanghai. He has a very stable family with parents above, daughter below, and wife in the middle. The whole family had a reunion dinner before he was about to go to war. At the wine table, Mr. Liu Wei, who played Wu Chenguang's father, was old and frail. He held a white wine and said to his son: A scholar must be magnanimous and resolute... It was a bit like when Gao Jianli sent Jing Ke to assassinate Qin, he sang loudly: The wind is whistling and the Yishui is cold... Wu Chenguang replied: The New Year is coming soon, and you have a happy New Year. Try your best to resolve the anxiety of the whole family. Mr. Liu Wei and Mr. Li Chen are in the same frame this time, which should be their collaboration again after the 1998 TV series "Detective True Colors". They lamented the changes of the times. Back then they played "gangster brothers" and now they play "father and son sitting at the same table". On the second day of the Chinese New Year in 2020, I received a message from Corey about the registration support at dinner time. I thought about it, and two minutes later, I became the second person in the registration group. I told my parents at the time that my grandmother was just fulfilling a notification obligation process and had not discussed it with my family. My father is a doctor. After the SARS in 2003, he probably understood my mood and thoughts. He said nothing and looked at me silently. When my mother was young, she was a surgeon. Later, in order to take care of me, she changed her career and became a school teacher until she retired. My mother only said one sentence: protect yourself. My most worried grandmother did not show reluctance because I went to the front line, but told me that my family could let me rest assured. So in the next few days, I started to prepare my things, asked around for information about buying masks, prepared two large bags of adult diapers, toiletries, change of clothes, etc. I left a message to a good colleague, saying that if we went to support, no matter who went first, the one at home would take care of the family members who went to support, and if we died in the battle, the living would take care of the dead family members. In the group at home, I entrusted my uncles, brothers and sisters to take care of my parents and grandma. At that time, it seemed that all kinds of speculations and speeches became very active because of the sudden arrival of the epidemic. I was blessed by my colleagues and cursed by the so-called "peers". What I did was not to believe in rumors, let alone spread rumors. I used white clothes as armor and medical skills as a spear, and was always ready to fight this epidemic. In the past, there were three things that scholars could not refuse: to fight for the country, to plead for the people, and to sacrifice their lives for justice. A few days later, I started to wear a face shield to participate in the outpatient temperature measurement work. I remember that day was very cold. I was on the afternoon shift, wearing a red cotton-padded jacket of the unit, wearing a face shield and two masks, standing at the entrance of the ward building. In one afternoon, I tested more than 370 people. At that time, although the patient's family members were very anxious, they also cooperated with the work. I was grateful for their support for my work from the bottom of my heart. When I got off work, I saw myself in the red cotton-padded jacket, and the face shield was blurred by my breath. I suddenly remembered the red-clothed imperial guard Zhan Zhao in the TV series. We were both loyal, and we also relied on our own skills to defend the capital region. We were both guards. Zhan Zhao and I had a sense of coincidence. So when I got off work, I wrote the same two sentences on the paper: I am arrogant and loyal, and I can sail on a small piece of land; I am so high that I can't see it, and I am like holding up the sky. In the movie, Dr. Tao Jun, another captain of the Guangdong medical aid team to Hubei, was played by Mr. Zhu Yawen. From the beginning of the movie, Dr. Tao Jun showed a completely different state from Dr. Wu Chenguang. Dr. Wu may represent the feelings of most practitioners and their families at that time. Dr. Tao Jun, on the other hand, made us feel more optimistic. When the hospital said goodbye, he patted his teacher on the shoulder and said, "I will be back in two weeks at most." He also took a selfie with his colleagues at the entrance of the hospital with a victory gesture. Before leaving, he did not forget to buy roast goose and set off with goose legs. When he arrived at the scene, he quickly got to work. Faced with the mistake of the nurse accidentally knocking over the treatment tray, Dr. Wu Chenguang did not express anything and turned around to continue working, while Dr. Tao Jun said naturally and without disguise: "Clumsy." Then to the rescue later, the patient had pericardial tamponade, and he asked his assistant to prepare a pericardiocentesis bag, and the assistant said: "No." Dr. Tao's mood of being about to curse but not yet scolding was interpreted by Mr. Zhu Yawen through his sharp eyes behind the screen. When facing Yi Yang Qianxi's rescue, he was afraid to intubate the patient and said casually: "Pujiezi, give way to me!" That kind of anger was vividly expressed. I am from Beijing, and I really don't understand what Mr. Zhu Yawen meant by the Cantonese (Cantonese Mandarin) "扑街仔", but I know it is definitely not a good word. Maybe it is just like "倒卧儿" in Beijing dialect, I don't know. If you understand, please explain it to me. Faced with the rising death toll, at the expert group discussion, Dr. Tao Jun hit the dean's sore spot directly. In the face of a large-scale public event, the materials, hardware, technology, and people are not good. In this head-on confrontation, Mr. Zhang Hanyu and Mr. Zhu Yawen did their best, which made me, a non-professional, feel very satisfied. Because I know that in clinical practice, this so-called hard injury really exists, and there are managers like Dean Zhang Jingyu who want to produce good results, and there are doctors like Dr. Tao Jun who are critical of the current situation. They all played this role vividly, which seemed to make me feel that I saw my colleagues around me without any sense of disobedience. Before Dr. Tao Jun left the meeting room in a huff, the disdainful look in the eyes of the man wearing a camouflage jacket pushed the character's personality traits to a climax. Later, facing Yi Yang Qianxi's character, he threw him a roast goose, which was the one he bought before leaving. He pointed his right index finger at Yi Yang Qianxi's face and warned him: Starting tomorrow, don't come to the ICU again. We don't have time to make mistakes... Such harsh words. People who don't have professional experience may think that Dr. Tao Jun is too strict, even harsh, and lacks care for junior doctors, let alone tolerance. However, as a practitioner, I have experienced Yi Yang Qianxi's role period, and I have also responded to others like Dr. Tao Jun. I can understand Tao Jun's "hate iron but not steel" mood, and what I can read is the awe of life. Later, Dr. Tao Jun and Dr. Wu Chenguang were taking a break from smoking on the rooftop. They had just lit their cigarettes when they received a call from a patient who wanted intubation. Dr. Tao Jun, who put out his cigarette, said the coolest thing in the whole play: I will not only intubate him, but also remove the tube for him. This kind of self-confidence is reflected from the inside out. Compared with the gentle Dr. Wu, he said, I want to call my wife. The response was: What the hell, come quickly. This kind of proud medical staff is what I admire the most. Dr. Tao Jun can say to the patient: I came from Guangdong specifically to serve you. You can also say to the patient after the rescue is successful: You are lucky to meet me. There is also the feeling of regret that the new crown patient died of myocardial infarction unexpectedly after getting rid of the ventilator. When he hoped that the family would donate the body, he bowed 90 degrees to express his gratitude. When Yi Yang Qianxi made progress, he took the initiative to hug him and patted his back to congratulate him. This fully reflects the image of a 360-degree doctor. It is worth giving a thumbs up to Mr. Zhu Yawen. It also made me see myself after a long time. I told my family that the role played by this buddy is very similar to me. There are several tearful moments in the whole play. One is the cesarean section for Jin Zai's wife, a pregnant woman with ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), and the helpless cry of Zhang Zifeng's character when she received the relics left by her parents who had passed away due to illness from Dr. Wu Chenguang: Uncle, how can a child without parents live? It's a torture of conscience. Another one is the nurse crying and complaining about how long she hasn't been home, while lowering her head to eat instant noodles, and said: This tm virus is really cd. Although for the sake of beauty, the movie was translated and subtitled in extremely civilized and acceptable language when it was broadcast, my feeling about this foul language is - I can empathize with it. In March 2020, I went to the isolation ward of our hospital for support. Before that, everyone had to undergo training on how to put on and take off isolation gowns. I had to practice putting on and taking off an isolation gown more than dozens of times, and I could only go to work after passing the test. I was practicing so hard that my abdominal muscles repeatedly spasmed in order to take off an isolation gown, and I couldn't straighten my waist. If I leaned against the wall or sat down to take off the isolation gown, it meant that I had failed the test and could not go to support. In the end, I gritted my teeth and endured the cramping abdominal pain and successfully took off the isolation gown. The next day, I went to the isolation ward to report. When I first entered the warehouse, I remember that everyone helped each other get dressed. Everyone wrote their names on their chests and backs because it was difficult to tell who was who after putting on the isolation suits. Basically, we relied on written names or voices to identify colleagues. I remember that before I entered the warehouse, I asked my colleagues to write down their names for me. At that time, in addition to names, you could also write some words or simple drawings you liked. I asked my colleagues to write the number 9 for me. Because the previous No. 9 player of Beijing Guoan was Soriano, the most efficient shooter in Guoan's history, averaging 0.91 goals per game, who can solve problems on the field. I hope I can be Soriano in the warehouse and solve more problems for patients. In this way, I worked in the isolation ward for a week, and then I was replaced by a colleague in the same group because there was no large isolation suit. Later in the film, everything is developing in a good direction, and Wuhan has also received news of lifting the lockdown. After celebrating the closure of the Fangcang Hospital, everyone bids farewell. At the end of the film, Dr. Wen Ting, played by Yuan Quan, and her daughter go shopping and meet Jinzai's family who contracted COVID-19 during the epidemic. Their child Lele was also born during their ECMO treatment. From the beginning of the movie, Jinzai's misunderstanding of the hospital due to the competition for medical resources, to Jinzai's lover's distrust of doctors when receiving COVID-19 treatment, to the post-epidemic era, several parties accidentally met in the park, and Jinzai and his wife took the initiative to bow to the doctor to thank him, which actually represents a psychological change of many of our patients during this period. As a medical staff who has experienced and worked in an isolation ward during the epidemic, I understand their feelings, and I am sincerely grateful to them for their understanding of this special period of our country and their cooperation and support for the work of our medical staff. During the one week that I worked there, we received 11 patients with fever symptoms for quarantine and observation. Among them were elderly patients in their 80s and 90s with multiple medical complications, as well as foreign patients in their 20s with coronary heart disease. They and their families fully cooperated with our work. No one had any objections, and no one brought us negative emotions. In this special era, it is commendable to be able to do this. Author: Wang Jianyu, Beijing Anzhen Hospital I wrote these words with a sense of nostalgia through the movie. At the end of the article, I pay tribute to the brothers and sisters who fought with me. I also thank the patients and their families who supported our work at that time! Thank you! The mountains and rivers are safe, and we will see you later. |
