I am always allergic. Is it really because I am weak? Can I be cured by continuous small amounts of contact with allergens?

A friend told Huazi that his child is very prone to allergies. Is it because his constitution is too weak and his resistance is too low? Will it get better when he grows up? I heard that continuous small amounts of contact with allergens can cure allergies. Is this true?

Hua Zi said that allergies are medically called "allergic reactions", which are actually not related to weak constitution and low resistance. It is when the body comes into contact with a certain type of substance that it stimulates the overreaction of the immune system, causing "accidental injuries" to the body's own tissue cells, leading to the occurrence of allergic diseases.

1. Why do we have allergies? Allergies are a very common disease that many people have experienced. The human body has an immune system that can identify foreign substances. If the immune system determines that a foreign substance is harmful, it will mobilize immune cells to "encircle and suppress" the foreign substance to protect the body from harm.

However, the human immune system is not so "smart". It may "overdo it" when removing foreign substances, causing damage to its own tissue cells, and may also identify some harmless substances as "harmful". For example, plant pollen, peanuts, mangoes and other substances we eat may cause a reaction in the immune system, resulting in allergic diseases.

2. Finding the allergen is the most important. If an allergic disease occurs, antihistamine receptor drugs can be used to stabilize mast cell membranes, inhibit the release of allergic mediators, and alleviate allergic symptoms. However, antihistamine drugs are ineffective for symptoms that have already occurred and can only prevent the occurrence of subsequent symptoms. For severe acute allergies, glucocorticoids are needed to effectively combat them.

The characteristics of most allergic diseases are that they develop quickly after contact with allergens, disappear quickly after being away from allergens, and recur with repeated contact. The best way to treat allergic diseases is to avoid contact with allergens, but it is difficult to identify allergens.

Although many hospitals can now perform allergen testing, there are many substances that cause allergies. The most common is dust mite allergy. Seasonal allergies are mainly caused by seasonal plant pollens. Some people are allergic to food and will experience allergic symptoms after eating specific foods. These causes are allergens that are relatively easy to identify.

However, some people are allergic to certain chemicals such as paint, exhaust gas, and decoration materials. Some allergic substances are not particularly obvious, so it is not easy to find the real allergen. Many patients have to endure pain and go through a long and tortuous search before they can find it.

3. Continuous small amounts of contact with allergens may cure allergies. In anti-allergic treatment, there is a "desensitization therapy", which means that after the allergens are identified, this specific allergen is prepared in different concentrations. Over a long period of time, the patient is gradually exposed to the allergen from low to high concentrations, thereby improving tolerance to allergens and eventually getting out of the allergic state.

Therefore, it is possible to cure allergies by continuously contacting allergens in small amounts, but it is not recommended to try it yourself. Because the concentration is difficult to control, some people may also have hypersensitivity reactions. If it causes laryngeal edema, suffocation may occur, which is life-threatening. Therefore, it is recommended to go to the hospital and receive regular desensitization treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

It is recommended that children participate in more outdoor activities and have more contact with the external environment during their childhood, which can reduce the probability of allergies when they grow up.

To sum up, allergic reactions have nothing to do with resistance. It is a specific hypersensitivity reaction caused by the body's immune system's overly intense reaction to foreign substances. For the treatment of allergic diseases, prevention is the main focus, and contact with allergens should be avoided. Continuous small amounts of contact with allergens may cure allergies, but this can only be done under the guidance of a doctor.
