In recent years, the myopia rate among children and adolescents in my country has remained high and has continued to rise. Myopia is becoming more severe and younger, and has become a major problem that affects the future of the country and the nation. Preventing and controlling myopia among children and adolescents requires joint efforts from the government, schools, medical and health institutions, families, students, and other parties. It requires the whole society to take action to jointly protect children's eyes.

Campus Vision Screening

From the school's perspective, in order to protect the vision health of children and adolescents, vision screening and testing are as important as reducing academic burdens, improving the visual environment, strengthening examination management, and strengthening outdoor physical exercise.

1. Conduct vision monitoring regularly. Primary schools should receive electronic files on the vision health of children and adolescents transferred from medical and health institutions, ensure that each student has a file, and transfer it in real time as the student status changes. Under the guidance of the health department, strictly implement the student health examination system and the vision monitoring system twice per semester, provide reminder education for students with abnormal vision, prescribe personal exercise prescriptions and health care prescriptions for them, and promptly inform parents to take students to ophthalmic medical institutions for examination. Make reports and statistical analyses on the detection rate and new incidence rate of poor vision among students, and cooperate with medical and health institutions to carry out vision screening. Schools and medical and health institutions should promptly record the results of vision monitoring and screening in the electronic files on the vision health of children and adolescents.

2. Strengthen vision health management. Establish a vision health management team consisting of school leaders, class teachers, school doctors, parent representatives, student vision protection committee members and volunteers, and clarify and refine responsibilities. Integrate myopia prevention and control knowledge into classroom teaching, campus culture and students' daily behavior norms. Strengthen the infirmary and equip school doctors and necessary medical equipment and related monitoring and inspection equipment according to standards.

Establish vision files. With the cooperation of schools, we will earnestly carry out vision screening for primary and secondary school students, and promptly update eye health data (including refraction, axial length, refractive medium parameters, etc.) to the electronic vision health files. For those who screen out abnormal vision or suspected eye diseases, we will provide personalized and targeted prevention and control plans.

Vision screening is to dynamically monitor students' vision so as to achieve early monitoring, early detection, early warning, early intervention and timely provision of professional and scientific services during the students' growth process.
