How to make fat burn more intensely? A study conducted by physiologists at the University of Granada in Spain found that consuming caffeine (about 3 mg/kg, equivalent to espresso) half an hour before aerobic exercise will increase the rate of fat burning, and that the fat burning effect is more obvious when exercising in the afternoon than in the morning. This suggests that there are diurnal differences in fat oxidation during exercise. Researchers say that drinking coffee before exercise and combining it with moderate-intensity exercise in the afternoon may be a good way for fitness enthusiasts to increase physical exercise and burn fat. The study included 15 men with an average age of 32 years old who underwent exercise testing four times every other week. The subjects were given coffee (3 mg/kg) or placebo before 8 am and 5 pm. The exercise tests were strictly standardized before the test. This isn’t the first study to suggest that coffee may help with weight loss. A Singaporean study shows that drinking four cups of coffee a day can help lose fat. Another American study showed that women who drink 2 to 3 times of coffee a day have a body fat percentage 2.8% lower than those who do not drink coffee. Some scholars speculate that this fat-reducing effect may be due to the fact that caffeine speeds up the body's metabolic process and ultimately consumes more calories. However, too much caffeine can cause anxiety, irritability, insomnia, and indigestion.
