Needle-like pain in the abdomen during late pregnancy

Many pregnant women become anxious when they reach the late stages of pregnancy. Because during this period, the baby will soon come into this world. Moreover, during this period, pregnant mothers will also experience some discomfort in their bodies. If you have a stabbing pain in your stomach during late pregnancy, it is likely physiological pain, but it is also possible that the fetus is moving in the mother's stomach, causing the stomach pain.

What causes abdominal pain in late pregnancy?

After finally making it through N months, you have reached the late stage of pregnancy. It is time for expectant mothers to be mentally prepared, especially when the due date is approaching, and be ready to welcome the baby's egg at any time. I've seen it a lot on TV. If a pregnant mother is about to give birth, her stomach will definitely hurt. The little baby is really eager to give birth, which is a bit torturous.

Especially after the amniotic fluid broke, the situation became more urgent and the baby had to be sent to the delivery room immediately. Expectant mothers will feel stomach pain more or less in the late pregnancy. It may be that the baby's naughty turning over irritates the expectant mother. Of course, this is normal. But if the pain is severe and there is a tearing sensation in the abdomen, the situation may be serious. Abdominal pain in late pregnancy can also be divided into physiological pain and pathological pain.

1. Physiological pain

1. The enlarged uterus will compress the ribs and cause pain. The baby is getting bigger and bigger, and the burden on the expectant mother is getting heavier. The continuous expansion of the uterus may press on the ribs, causing pain.

2. False labor can cause pain. False labor may cause mild distension and pain in the lower abdomen, and the frequency and duration of contractions are inconsistent. In fact, false labor also means that the expectant mother is about to give birth, so she must pay attention to rest at this time.

3. Fetal movement can also cause pain. As the baby's nose grows bigger, even stretching may cause obvious pain. Expectant mothers should count the fetal movements. Starting from the 28th week of pregnancy, count the fetal movements in the morning, noon and evening every day, one hour each time. Add the total and multiply by 4 to get 12 hours of fetal movements. If the fetal movement is less than 3 times per hour or more than 30 times within 12 hours, it is normal.

As mentioned above, if it is physiological abdominal pain, then the impact on the fetus and the expectant mother will not be that great. But if there is a sign of uterine rupture, the baby and the expectant mother are in a gray area. At this time, a caesarean section should be performed to rescue the expectant mother quickly and stop the bleeding quickly. When a caesarean section is performed later, if the baby still has a fetal heartbeat, then his chances of survival are high.

Placental abruption may also lead to the death of the baby. If the placental abruption exceeds 50%, the expectant mother's coagulation mechanism will be abnormal, and the fate of the fetus can only be left to fate. Of course, the chance of placental abruption is very low, only 0.5~1%, so expectant mothers don’t need to worry too much. However, if the expectant mother has high blood pressure, has a smoking habit, and is carrying multiple babies, then placental abruption is likely to occur.

If the stomach pain is caused by physiological reasons, expectant mothers don’t need to worry too much. Fetal movement can also cause stomach pain, but the baby can still play happily, which proves that he is still quite energetic. If it is a false labor, the expectant mother must be prepared to welcome the birth of the baby.
