For people with bad stomach, eating soda crackers will not nourish the stomach, and eating too much will threaten health

When Huazi was having a party with his friends, Xiaoqiang kept stuffing biscuits into his mouth. Huazi teased him that he was so greedy at such an old age and had to eat snacks wherever he went. Xiaoqiang said seriously that he was not greedy, but to cure his illness. Xiaoqiang said that his stomach was not good, so he ate "soda biscuits". He heard that this kind of biscuit contains alkaline substances, which can neutralize stomach acid and have a nourishing effect on the stomach.

Huazi told Xiaoqiang to tell him two facts. First, soda crackers cannot nourish the stomach. Second, eating too much soda crackers will threaten your health.

1. Soda crackers cannot nourish the stomach People believe that soda crackers can nourish the stomach because they contain "baking soda", which can neutralize stomach acid. "Baking soda" is another name for sodium bicarbonate, a commonly used food additive. Because sodium bicarbonate is unstable, it will release water and carbon dioxide, forming many pores in the food, making the pasta fluffy. Moreover, it has weak alkalinity, which can also neutralize the acidic substances generated by the pasta during the fermentation process and improve the taste.

The proportion of "baking soda" in soda crackers is very small, about less than 0.4%, and it is only used as a fluffing agent, not added to neutralize stomach acid. Therefore, if you want to achieve the purpose of neutralizing stomach acid by eating soda crackers, you need to eat soda crackers as a meal, which is unrealistic.

2. Why does eating biscuits relieve stomach pain? Xiaoqiang disagrees with Huazi's opinion. He said that after eating soda biscuits, he felt no stomach pain, which shows that soda biscuits are effective. Huazi told him that the stomach pain he felt might not be a stomach problem, but a duodenal ulcer. Because the main symptom of gastric ulcer is pain after eating, while duodenal ulcer will cause hunger pain when the stomach is empty.

Because the stomach and duodenum are connected, the pain sites of the two are similar, so people often cannot tell which part is hurting. However, through the analysis of symptoms, it can be judged that if there is a gastric ulcer, then after eating, the friction between the food and the stomach wall will cause pain. Duodenal ulcer is because the stomach acid stimulates the duodenum, causing pain.

For people with duodenal ulcers, after eating, stomach acid mixes with food, the acidity will weaken, and the stimulation will be reduced, so the pain can be relieved. Therefore, people with duodenal ulcers can use the method of "eating small meals frequently", dividing the meals in a day into small portions, and eating small amounts multiple times to relieve the symptoms of pain.

But it is important to understand that any food can actually produce a similar pain relief effect. For example, a piece of bread, half a steamed bun, a cake, etc., are not much different from eating a few soda crackers. It's just that crackers are more convenient to carry and taste better. But this method is only a "symptomatic treatment" and cannot relieve pain for a long time.

3. Threats to Health from Soda Crackers Soda crackers are crispy and are known to be good for the stomach, so many people like to eat them. However, during the processing of soda crackers, a lot of salt, oil, and sugar are added to make them taste better. If you eat too much or eat them as a staple food, they will pose a threat to your health.

Too much salt can induce high blood pressure, while too much oil and sugar can easily cause obesity and increase the risk of high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes. During the processing of biscuits, they also need to be baked at high temperatures, which increases the content of acrylamide, a substance with carcinogenic risk, which increases the risk of tumors.

4. What should I do if I feel uncomfortable in my stomach? Huazi told Xiaoqiang that if I always feel uncomfortable or painful in my stomach, then I must go to the hospital for a detailed gastroscopy and check whether I have Helicobacter pylori infection. If I have Helicobacter pylori infection, I need to undergo eradication treatment. As for diseases of the stomach itself, it is "three parts treatment and seven parts care".

Our stomach is a "blender" that rubs against all kinds of food all day long and is easily injured, so its own regeneration ability is very strong. As long as the stomach disease is not very serious, pay attention to chewing slowly when eating, and eat less raw, cold, hard, hot, irritating and difficult to digest food, the stomach can usually be restored in 3 to 6 months.

If the pain is obvious, then take antacids for a period of time under the guidance of a doctor to inhibit the secretion of gastric acid, which can strengthen the protective effect of the gastric mucosa, allow the gastric wall cells to "take a breath" and regenerate and repair themselves. There is no need to eat soda crackers, because eating too many crackers is also a burden on the stomach.

In summary, soda crackers do not have the effect of nourishing the stomach. It is okay to eat them occasionally as a snack, but you cannot expect them to cure stomach problems, and eating too much may cause health problems. If you have stomach problems, you should see a doctor and take the correct medication under the doctor's guidance. You should pay more attention to maintaining your stomach in order to completely solve stomach problems. I am pharmacist Huazi, welcome to follow me and share more health knowledge.
