What are the factors that affect follicle development?

A very important factor in the female reproductive process is the degree of follicle development. Only when the follicles can develop normally and become relatively mature follicles can they combine with sperm and begin conception. However, some women's follicles may be underdeveloped. Let's take a look at the factors that affect follicle development?

One of the causes of ovarian hypoplasia, common diseases that lead to abnormal ovulation include pituitary prolactinoma, hyperprolactinemia, and Sheehan syndrome. High prolactin levels can inhibit ovulation. Primary organic factors, primary functional factors, secondary organic lesions, and secondary functional factors.

In some women, follicular hypoplasia is caused by premature ovarian failure. The patient has normal menstruation in the early stage and even has a history of childbearing, but then the menstruation becomes rare until complete amenorrhea. The follicles in the ovaries of such patients have been exhausted, and it is impossible to use ovulation-stimulating drugs to make the follicles develop, or although there are primordial follicles, they do not respond to gonadotropin measurements. FSH and LH levels are significantly increased, and E2 levels are significantly decreased, reaching menopausal levels. A diagnosis can only be made after three tests. Blood PRL is normal. Polycystic ovary is one of the causes of follicular dysplasia. Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most common reason why women do not ovulate. The characteristics of its ovaries are that the ovaries are enlarged and have multiple small follicles, but they cannot mature. Therefore, drugs are needed to promote follicle development. In addition, excessive weight loss, mental stress, and other physical health factors can lead to female endocrine disorders, which can directly affect the development of female follicles.

If the follicles are underdeveloped, forcibly using ovulation-inducing drugs in a short period of time to force ovulation will cause the eggs to be released, but they will be immature and therefore cannot lead to normal conception. Even if the sperm and egg combine, miscarriage, stillbirth, etc. are likely to occur.

Therefore, the development of follicles is very important for women who want to have children. For women with poor follicular development, the best time to treat is to go to the hospital for active examination 3-5 days after the end of menstruation, find out the root cause of poor follicular development, and then take appropriate treatment measures.
