Why does the brake indicator light keep on? Why does the brake tail light keep on?

The brake indicator light is on the car dashboard. When there is a problem with the brakes, the indicator light will be on. The brake tail light is at the rear of the car. When the driver steps on the brake, the tail light will light up to inform the vehicles behind to brake or avoid. Whether these two lights are always on or not, you should pay more attention to them.

The brake light stays on, what's going on?

1. The handbrake is not fully released or the pedal is not returned to its original position

Check whether the handbrake is fully released, whether the footbrake is fully returned, whether the rear brake light is on, etc. We can release the handbrake several times and step on the footbrake several times to check if there is any abnormality. If the warning light goes out after the self-check, the fault should be here.

2. Brake pad return and wear

If the brake pads are worn to a certain extent, the brake warning light will light up to warn you, and you need to replace the brake pads.

We can roughly judge from the mileage, usage and age of the car. At the same time, observe the brake pads to determine the wear. At the same time, observe whether the caliper brake bounces up and whether there are foreign objects between the brake pads.

3. Lack of brake fluid

If the brake fluid is insufficient, the warning light will also light up. We can open the engine hood and check the brake fluid tank. If it is obviously insufficient, the fault may be here. At this time, the brake fluid must be added or replaced.

4. Brake system sensor or circuit failure

The brake system has many sensors and circuits. If the circuit is damaged or the sensor fails, the fault light will sound, which requires professional experience and inspection to judge and eliminate.

5. Has there been any recent modifications?

If the car is improperly modified or operated incorrectly, it may cause damage to the brake system circuit, short circuit, etc., causing the warning light to light up. This also needs to be checked by checking the circuit, etc.

The above is just a rough judgment on the appearance of the brake fault light. The fault may be single or multiple, and ultimately they need to be solved through troubleshooting. Other reasons for brake system failure cannot be ruled out.

Why does the car's brake tail light stay on?

If the brake light stays on after you release the brake pedal, it may be that the switch controlling the brake light is broken, or the assembly clearance between the threaded end of the brake light switch and the brake pedal lever is incorrect. Solution:

1) Release the brake pedal and adjust the brake light switch until its threaded end touches the brake pedal lever.

2) When the threaded end of the brake light switch touches the brake pedal lever, confirm that the brake light can be turned off and on when the brake pedal is released or pressed.

3) If the brake light is still on after adjustment, disconnect the brake switch plug and replace the brake switch.

In general models, the brake light is powered by the battery, which then passes through the fuse and then to the brake switch. When the brake pedal is pressed, the ground is connected to form a circuit. The brake light switch controls the on and off of the brake light power supply by pressing and releasing the brake pedal. Therefore, under normal circumstances, whether the engine is turned off or running, as long as the brake pedal is pressed and released, the brake light switch will control the lighting and extinguishing of the brake light.

Why do some car brake tail lights light up frequently?

When the driver thinks that his speed is sufficient and no more acceleration is needed, his right foot will move to the brake pedal to be ready to slow down or respond to emergencies. At this time, the brake lights will light up. Especially when driving on urban roads, such changes will be very frequent, so you will find that the brake lights will often light up.

Due to the design of the vehicle, as long as your foot steps on the brake pedal, even if you don't brake, it will trigger the brake switch and the brake lights will light up. Since the driver's right foot only directly changes between the accelerator and the brake, you will find that the brake lights will light up frequently.
