How to thaw Basa fish

Proper thawing of frozen seafood is key to ensuring nutritional quality.

When seafood is thawed, when the temperature rises to a certain range (from 0 degrees Celsius to 6 degrees Celsius), the melted water of the ice crystals inside the food can be absorbed back into the seafood cells. If it melts rapidly, the water cannot be absorbed back and becomes juice. Since the juice brings out water-soluble nutrients such as protein, minerals, and vitamins, the nutrition of seafood will be lost.

Generally speaking, the shorter the thawing time, the better, and the closer the color is to the original color, the better. Seafood can be thawed in natural air at about 1-5 degrees Celsius, sprayed with tap water at about 15 degrees Celsius, or placed in running water at about 10 degrees Celsius. However, it should not be soaked in standing water; never put seafood in warm water to thaw.

In addition, once frozen seafood is thawed, it should be cooked immediately, otherwise the activity of microorganisms and enzymes will be restored, causing seafood deterioration and loss of nutrients.

The cooking temperature and time should be determined according to the type of seafood, freshness, etc. Generally speaking, high heat is used at the beginning of cooking, and then low heat is used after boiling.
