What is the matter with the old yellow leaves of Green King? How to remedy the yellowing of the leaves of Green King?

Green King is a common flower plant in life. Because of its skill to grow and its ability to purify the air, it is loved by people and is the first choice of many flower growers. However, many people always encounter the problem of yellow leaves in the process of cultivation. So what is the matter with the old yellow leaves of Green King? Let's take a look.

What's up with the old yellow leaves of Green King?

The reason for the yellowing leaves may be that too much water can easily cause the roots to not breathe properly, and in severe cases the roots may die, which affects the plant's water absorption. Of course, too little water can also easily cause yellowing leaves. It may also be due to insufficient light for a long time, and excessive sun exposure can also cause yellowing, and the leaves can also dry out and turn black. Excessive temperature can also cause yellowing leaves. Another reason is that the humidity is not appropriate.

How to remedy the yellowing of Green King leaves

Maintaining Temperature

Green Overlord is native to tropical regions, so it likes a high-temperature growing environment. Generally, the temperature of Green Overlord needs to be kept between 20 and 30 degrees. If the temperature is too low, the leaves of Green Overlord will turn yellow. Therefore, we need to keep the temperature above 5 degrees in winter. If it is below 5 degrees, Green Overlord will be frostbitten. If you want Green Overlord to grow normally, you need to keep the temperature above 13 degrees.

Avoid exposure to the sun

Green Overlord likes a growing environment with scattered sunlight and is very afraid of strong direct sunlight. Therefore, in the summer season with strong light, avoid exposing Green Overlord to the sun, otherwise the leaves of Green Overlord will be sunburned and turn yellow. If Green Overlord is accidentally sunburned, then we need to transfer Green Overlord to a cool and ventilated environment and spray water to help it recover.

Maintain humidity

Green Overlord likes a humid growing environment, but it is very sensitive to humidity. Too much humidity or too much dryness will affect its growth. When we are caring for Green Overlord, it is best to keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged, otherwise root rot will cause yellow leaves. If it is too dry, Green Overlord will have yellow leaves due to lack of water. In addition to watering, you should also spray water frequently to maintain humidity. In summer, you need to spray water two to three times a day so that Green Overlord can grow better.

How to cultivate Green King

1. Division: Green Tyrant can be divided and propagated by using the suckers at the base, which is usually done in spring when repotting. When doing this, lift the plant out of the pot, cut off the rhizome at the base of the stem, apply plant ash to prevent rot, or leave it for half a day, wait for the cut to dry before potting, and water it thoroughly. Do not water it too much after planting, and it will resume growth in about 10 days.

2. Cuttings: The best time for Green King to be propagated is during the high temperature period from July to August. Cut the top 7 to 10 cm of the stem, remove some leaves to reduce water evaporation, apply wood ash or sulfur powder on the incision, insert it into the sand bed or wrap the incision with sphagnum moss, maintain high air humidity, place it in semi-shade, with about 50 to 60% sunlight, and take root 15 to 25 days after insertion at room temperature of 24 to 30℃. Transplant it into a pot after new buds sprout on the stem segment.

Does Green Tyrant need sunlight?

Although Green Tyrant prefers to grow in semi-shade, it needs sunlight to grow, especially in winter, when it can be exposed to more sunlight to synthesize nutrients and promote growth. If it is not exposed to sunlight, it will cause the leaves to fade, turn yellow, dry up, and have a great impact on its ornamental value. Note that it is not suitable for sun exposure in all seasons. In summer, when the sun is strong, it needs to be properly shaded to avoid being burned by the scorching sun.
