How long does it take to be called menopause without menstruation?

What women need to experience in their lives is childbirth, as well as various gynecological diseases. Finally, they will face the cessation of menstruation, which marks the end of their entire life. When menstruation stops, as long as you pay attention to good hygiene, you can avoid the occurrence of gynecological diseases. This is just the normal physiological structure of the body. As people begin to gradually age, it is necessary to judge how long it takes without menstruation to be called menopause.

Criteria for determining menopause in women

The specific stages before and after menopause are called premenopause and postmenopause, respectively, or collectively referred to as perimenopause. In June 1994, 25 reproductive medicine experts from 15 countries around the world met at the WHO Special Committee on Human Reproduction to discuss the research progress on menopause in the 1990s and revised the definitions of terms related to menopause.

1. Natural menopause is permanent menopause (cessation of menstruation for more than one year) due to exhaustion of ovarian follicles and ovarian failure.

2. Perimenopause includes endocrine disorders and clinical manifestations that occur before menopause to within 1 year after menopause. It is recommended that the term "menopause" be discontinued and that the menopausal transition be defined as the phase of change in the menstrual cycle prior to the final menstruation.

3. Premenopause should refer to the entire reproductive period before menopause.

4. Artificial menopause includes surgical removal of both ovaries with or without removal of the uterus, or other methods such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy to terminate ovarian function. Those who only had their uterus removed while retaining one or both ovaries were not included because they still retained a certain degree of ovarian function.

5. After menopause, whether natural or artificial, the date of the last menstrual period is used as the starting point.

6. Premature menopause refers to the cessation of menstruation in women before the age of 40.

Whether ovarian function has ceased must be determined based on the levels of FSH, LH and E2 in the blood.
