What is the cause of the root rot of the fuchsia? How to deal with the root rot of the fuchsia and save it

Fuchsia is a common flower plant in life. It is the first choice of many flower growers because of its effects of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, cooling blood and removing wind. However, many people find that the roots of fuchsia rot while growing them. So how can we deal with the root rot and save the fuchsia? Let's take a look.

What is the cause of the root rot of the fuchsia?

1. Waterlogging in the pot soil, excessive watering and root rot. The main reasons for waterlogging in the pot soil are mostly due to improper use of soil and soil compaction. If ordinary garden soil is used without some water-conserving substrates, such as river sand, coal slag, etc., the pot soil will easily become compacted; water cannot be discharged for a long time after watering; the water content of the pot soil is saturated for a long time after watering. All of these will cause the plant roots to be unable to breathe normally, and eventually necrotize and rot. In addition, pure peat soil is used for planting. Peat soil has strong water retention. After watering thoroughly, coupled with poor ventilation, the pot soil will be in a water-saturated state for a long time, which will also cause root rot.

2. Applying too much fertilizer or using undecomposed organic fertilizer will burn the roots. Some flower lovers are eager for quick results and want to make the fuchsia grow faster and better, so they apply fertilizer as much as possible. They don’t want to apply too much fertilizer and cause root rot. Using undecomposed organic fertilizer will cause the organic matter to ferment in the flowerpot and generate a lot of heat to burn the roots.

3. Bacterial infection causes root rot of fuchsia. If the planting soil or substrate is not disinfected during planting, it is easy to cause a large number of bacteria to multiply, and finally cause root rot.

How to save the fuchsia after its roots rot

1. Use new soil with good drainage to cultivate fuchsia. Soil with pathogens should be steam sterilized. If you are not sure whether there are pathogens or not, it is recommended to disinfect all the soil directly or replace all the soil with new ones in the spring when combined with repotting.

2. Water scientifically. It is better to irrigate frequently with small amounts of water, and avoid excessive watering. If the pot soil is too wet for a long time, the roots will suffocate and rot easily. After rooting and propagation, pay attention to fertilizer and water management. Topping the tops of the plants several times at a certain height will make the plants have more branches and more flowers. After flowering, prune the stems to only 15 cm to 20 cm, control watering, place in a cool place for the summer, and apply fertilizer and water frequently when the weather turns cooler to promote growth.

Why are the leaves of the newly bought fuchsia wilting in winter?

If there is no heating in the south, the fuchsia will immediately freeze and wilt when the temperature is below 5 degrees, so you should quickly move it indoors to an environment above 5 degrees for maintenance. In addition, be careful not to overwater it. In winter, the fuchsia grows slowly and cannot absorb so much water. Too much water will cause root rot and wilt.

Can the fuchsia survive after changing the pot soil?

It is common to change the soil of flowers and trees. Therefore, if you change the sand with insects into clean soil, as long as you do not damage its roots when changing the soil, the fuchsia will not die, but will grow better. But I have to remind you that the fuchsia potted plant that has just been changed in the soil cannot be placed on the balcony to bask in the sun immediately, but should be placed in a cool place for 7-10 days before being placed in a sunny place for normal management.
