Are dust mites mites? How to treat dust mite allergy rhinitis?

Dust mites are very annoying creatures. They can easily breed in the home. If you have acne on your back, or your hair is easily oily and has dandruff, it is very likely that you have dust mites. Dust mites can also easily cause allergic reactions in the human body.

Are dust mites mites?

Dust mites are a type of mite and one of the most common inhaled allergens. Dust mite allergic asthma is currently the most common asthma in clinical practice around the world.

Common dust mites include household dust mites and dust mites. These two types of dust mites are widely bred in all types of environments around the world. The most suitable temperature and humidity are 20-25℃ and relative humidity is 70%-75%. If the temperature and relative humidity are lowered, the development time of the mites will be prolonged. Soil, expired food, clothes, carpets, bedding, sofas, pillows, and air conditioning filters may become their breeding grounds.

Among the dust samples collected at home, the dust in bed has the highest dust mite content. Especially in a humid and warm environment, household dust mites will have a greater advantage and reproduce rapidly.

The main food source of dust mites is dead skin cells shed by the human body, so as long as we sleep in bed every day, the dandruff is enough for dust mites to reproduce in large numbers.

Whether it is the corpses or eggs of dust mites, they can cause allergic reactions in certain groups of people, further leading to rhinitis, asthma, or skin problems such as eczema and itching.

How to treat dust mite allergic rhinitis

If you have allergic rhinitis and are allergic to dust mites, once you come into contact with dust mites (for example, some bedding that has been stored for a long time and is not exposed to the sun may have a lot of dust mites), it will induce symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and runny nose. At this time, there are two ways to treat it. One is to use anti-allergic treatment. The best effect is nasal inhaled corticosteroids (such as budesonide, fluticasone, etc.), or oral anti-allergic drugs, such as loratadine, cetirizine, desloratadine, etc., the effects are all good.

The second method is to do desensitization treatment. If you are allergic to dust mites alone, the effect of desensitization treatment may be better. If you are also allergic to many other things at the same time, the treatment effect will be much worse. Desensitization treatment is the only possible way to cure allergic rhinitis, but the effect may not be very good. The mechanism is very simple, that is, let us gradually contact these allergens until we are no longer allergic. However, desensitization treatment is expensive and the course of treatment is very long, about 2-3 years. So many people are reluctant to choose it.

Finally, no matter what you are allergic to, it is best to avoid contact with these things as much as possible. If you are allergic to dust mites, try not to contact them. However, dust mites may be everywhere in life. It is difficult to avoid contact completely. Therefore, drug treatment is also necessary.

How to get rid of house dust mites

First of all, we must control the humidity and keep the room ventilated frequently. Keeping the air humidity below 50% is the most common method to prevent and control dust mites.

Bedding and clothes that are rarely used should be wrapped in packaging bags with better sealing properties.

Wash, dry and air bedding in time. Washing bedding with hot water above 55℃ once a week can kill mites and remove most mite allergens.

For velvet sofas, the sofa covers should be replaced or cleaned frequently, and the use of carpets should be reduced as much as possible. If you must use them, it is best to clean them frequently with a vacuum cleaner that can remove dust mites.

The air conditioner filter should also be cleaned regularly.

To reduce the number of dust mites floating in the air, use an air purifier.

In addition, some plush toys, if they are not particularly large, can be frozen in an environment below -17°C, such as in a refrigerator, for 27 hours to remove dust mites and allergens.
