How to quickly relieve the itching of the throat caused by chronic pharyngitis? What to do when chronic pharyngitis causes pain

In addition to the foreign body sensation in the throat, chronic pharyngitis can also cause a slight itch that cannot be scratched and is extremely unbearable. In more serious cases, there is pain, which can even last for quite a while. So what should you do if you have itching or pain in chronic pharyngitis?

How to quickly relieve the itching of the throat caused by chronic pharyngitis

Take 1 to 2 spoons of unprocessed honey. Honey can coat the throat with a protective film, relieve throat discomfort, and also have a cough suppressant effect. If you don't like swallowing honey directly, you can add it to tea and drink it together. However, when drinking tea, the throat will be less exposed to honey, so drinking tea is not as effective as swallowing honey directly. Soak a slice of lemon or a few pieces of peeled ginger in water for five minutes, add honey, and then you can enjoy it. Lemon and ginger can also be used together.

Do not give honey to children under one year old. Honey contains certain bacteria that they cannot digest.

Take a 10-minute soak or hot shower. Using a humidifier can also help, as dry air can further irritate your throat. Even without a humidifier, simply suffusing your face with hot water and draping a towel over your head can help relieve throat discomfort.

What to do when chronic pharyngitis hurts

1. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water.

Add a spoonful of salt (5 ml) to about 250 ml of warm water, then gargle with the mixed salt water, spit it out after a few seconds, and repeat it again. Salt water can help the inflamed and swollen tissues in the throat discharge excess mucus, thereby relieving pain.

If you have a lot of phlegm, you can add a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide to your mouthwash. Hydrogen peroxide can clean the wound and help the mucus drain out.

A similar effect can be achieved by gargling with diluted apple cider vinegar. Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of water and gargle with it. Add some honey to make it taste better.

2. Eat some soothing or cooling foods.

While your throat is healing, eat foods that are good for it, such as broth, applesauce, berries, etc. Popsicles can also relieve a sore throat. You can also eat frozen fruits, such as blueberries, canned oranges, etc. Before freezing fruits, be sure to wash them well. To prevent them from sticking together, place them separately on a plate.

3. Make ginger tea.

You can buy ginger tea ready-made or you can make your own. Before you make your own ginger tea, you need to first buy fresh ginger. Not everyone likes the pungent, spicy taste of ginger, but it can clear your throat and relieve pain.

practice:

Prepare some fresh ginger. Take a piece of ginger about 2.5cm wide and 5cm long, peel it and cut it into slices.

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, then add the ginger slices. Turn off the heat after 15 minutes and scoop out the ginger slices with a slotted spoon.

Add lemon juice and honey according to personal taste. You can use a quarter to half of a lemon and 2 tablespoons or more of honey.

Drink the tea while it's hot. This ginger tea is made to treat sore throats, so it may not taste particularly good. The tea will sting briefly as it clears your throat, but it will help relieve sore throats.

4. Rinse your mouth with onions

Chop an onion and put it in a bowl.

Chop half a red pepper and add it to the onion. Wear gloves when cutting peppers, or use a plastic bag to separate your hands from the peppers so that your fingers don't get hurt. If you don't take any protective measures, remember not to touch your delicate skin with your fingers that have touched the peppers.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and the juice of 2 lemons and place in the refrigerator for an hour.

Strain the juice into a clean glass. You can use cheesecloth or clean kitchen paper to filter out any residue.

Rinse your mouth with the filtered juice, spit it out after a few seconds, and repeat. This can relieve throat discomfort.

5. Mashed Garlic

Garlic paste is very irritating, but it can effectively relieve throat pain. When eating garlic paste, try to slow down your swallowing so that it has time to work. The allicin in garlic can treat pharyngitis. You can occasionally chew a piece of garlic and hold it in your mouth.

practice

1. Chop a small piece of ginger and a clove of garlic. Chop them as finely as possible for easier absorption. Put the chopped things in a small bowl.

2. Add a pinch or two of chili powder and mix well. Don't add too much chili powder, otherwise it will be very spicy.

3. Add two tablespoons of honey and mix well.

4. To make it easier to swallow, add a few drops of water in a bowl to dilute the garlic paste appropriately.

5. Swallow all the garlic paste one mouthful at a time. Your throat may feel more uncomfortable in the first 10 minutes after eating it, but it will gradually ease up.

How to take medicine for chronic pharyngitis

Over-the-counter throat lozenges.

Lozenges usually contain menthol and anesthetics, such as ambroxol, lidocaine, and benzocaine. They can soothe and numb your throat. Take them as directed, and if your symptoms do not improve after two days of using the lozenges, see a doctor. Do not chew or swallow the lozenges directly, allowing them to melt slowly in your mouth.

Acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

Most doctors will recommend some basic pain relievers for sore throats. Avoid aspirin, as it is hard on the stomach.

Throat spray.

Throat sprays are very soothing and work faster than cough medicines. Throat sprays sold in different regions vary, and their effectiveness varies. You won't know which spray is best for you until you try it.

Prescription medication.

A sore throat can be a symptom of a medical condition. If you have a sore throat and a high fever for several days, see your doctor. You may have a viral sore throat or bronchitis. Both of these conditions are easy to treat once diagnosed by a doctor.
