What does pregnancy nt value mean

I believe everyone knows the importance of physical examinations to us, and the role of physical examinations for pregnant women is even more obvious. Physical examinations are helpful for pregnant women to detect abnormal conditions in their bodies in a timely manner, so as to ensure the healthy development of the baby. Therefore, we recommend that pregnant women friends should go to the hospital for physical examinations regularly. During the physical examination, it is necessary to check the NT value. Below we will introduce what the pregnancy NT value means.

As for the results of the NT examination, the nuchal translucency usually increases accordingly with the growth of the baby. So, what is the normal range of the NT value?

In China, doctors consider a nuchal translucency greater than 3 mm to be abnormal. If the nuchal translucency is thick, it does not necessarily mean that there is something wrong with your baby. Some normal babies also have more fluid. Although 2.9mm is the upper limit of the normal range, nine times out of ten a baby measuring between 2.5 and 3.5mm is completely normal.

The thicker the nuchal translucency, the higher the baby's risk of disease. If the thickness reaches 6 mm, there is a high risk of Down syndrome and other chromosomal, genetic syndromes and heart problems. Fortunately, not many babies have such a thick nuchal translucency.

The nuchal translucency usually grows as the fetus grows and gradually disappears after 14 weeks of pregnancy. In China, doctors consider a nuchal translucency greater than 3 mm to be abnormal. Due to different individual conditions, some normal fetuses have more body fluids, which can easily affect the measurement results. If the nuchal translucency is thick, it does not necessarily mean that there is a problem with the fetus.

If the NT value is close to 3mm, the pregnant woman needs to decide whether to undergo further examination to clarify the risk of disease. Generally speaking, the thicker the nuchal translucency, the higher the risk of fetal abnormalities. If the thickness has reached 6mm, it is recommended to conduct subsequent risk screening to clarify the condition as early as possible.

Knowing the importance of physical examinations for pregnancy, pregnant women need to have regular check-ups and actively cooperate during the examination. Failure to cooperate will not be good for the fetus. They also need to have some understanding of what the pregnancy NT value means. Therefore, when some values are abnormal, they need to be improved in time, especially for women with poor physical fitness. This is also something they should pay attention to.
