What does it mean when the cervix is often enlarged?

Cervical hypertrophy is a type of chronic cervicitis. Inflammatory changes caused by pathogenic bacteria infecting the cervical mucosa. The pathogens that cause cervical hypertrophy include chlamydia, mycoplasma, bacteria, and viral infections. It is recommended that you go to the hospital's gynecology department to have a cervical secretion examination and use medication based on the examination results. If necessary, a cervical TCT test can be performed to detect early cervical lesions. Simple cervical hypertrophy is not likely to affect pregnancy, but more severe cervicitis can cause endometritis, bilateral salpingo-oophoritis, fallopian tube adhesions and blockage, leading to infertility. So what does an enlarged cervix mean?

There is no such thing as an enlarged cervix in the description of gynecological diseases. It is mostly cervical hypertrophy. Cervical hypertrophy is caused by long-term stimulation of inflammation, resulting in hyperplasia of the glandular duct and interstitial space. In addition, if there are glandular cysts in the cervix, it can cause varying degrees of cervical hypertrophy and increased firmness, which is manifested as increased female secretions, which are light yellow or pus-colored. There is bleeding during intercourse and in the middle of menstruation. Sometimes there is vulvar itching caused by the irritation of secretions, or there are symptoms of discomfort, which may also be accompanied by lower abdominal pain, discomfort and back pain. If there are no special circumstances, it is sufficient to carry out TCT and HPV anti-cancer tests every year. When side effects occur, vaginal suppositories or oral medications should be used as anti-infection measures as possible.

1. Excessive leucorrhea: The typical symptom of patients with cervical hypertrophy is excessive leucorrhea. The secretions of subacute cervicitis are pus-like, accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral area, or bladder irritation symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, and pain when urinating. The discharge of chronic cervicitis is milky white mucus or light yellow pus.

2. Cervical hematoma and edema: The inflammatory reaction can be seen as cervical hematoma, edema or erosion, with purulent secretions discharged from the cervical canal, and there will be pain when the cervix is stimulated. Chronic cervicitis can be seen in different degrees of erosion, hypertrophy, polyps, glandular cysts, eversion and other manifestations of the cervix, or there may be purulent secretions on the edge of the cervix, and the cervix is hard on palpation. If it is cervical erosion or polyps, there may be irregular bleeding.

3. Bleeding during sexual intercourse: When there is moderate to severe cervical erosion or cervical polyps, there may be bloody leucorrhea and bleeding during sexual intercourse. In mild cases, there may be no systemic symptoms. When the inflammation spreads along the uterine sacral cruciate ligament to the pelvis, there may be pain in the lumbar sacral region, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and menstrual pain, which are aggravated during bowel movements and sexual intercourse.

4. Infertility: The sticky purulent secretions are not conducive to the passage of male sperm and can also cause infertility.
