Prenatal check-up items

We all know that pregnancy check-ups are important for everyone, especially female friends. Pregnancy check-ups are also something we need to pay top priority to. So, what does the pre-delivery check-up check for? What should we pay attention to during pregnancy check-ups? Next, let us learn about it and study it together.

What are the tests for prenatal check-up?

First, a glucose tolerance test. Prevent the risk of high blood sugar and high blood pressure in expectant mothers. During pregnancy, due to changes in female hormones and improper diet, the risk of diabetes in expectant mothers will increase. If you have high blood sugar when preparing for pregnancy, it will cause the fetus to be too large, which may lead to the birth of a "giant fetus". "Giant fetus" is not only not conducive to delivery for pregnant women, but also causes health problems for the fetus in the future. Therefore, glucose tolerance screening should be performed at 24-28 weeks of pregnancy. Drink water containing 50 grams of glucose, and have a blood test 1 hour later to check the postprandial blood sugar level.

Second, Down syndrome screening to eliminate congenital defects in the fetus. Down syndrome screening is a non-invasive method for the fetus to detect whether the expectant mother is at high risk of having a baby with Down syndrome. Congenital Down syndrome is a congenital brain development disorder. Every expectant mother has the possibility of giving birth to a child with Down syndrome, and the risk of giving birth to a child with Down syndrome increases with the age of the expectant mother.

Expectant mothers need to go to the hospital for Down syndrome screening between 14 and 20 weeks of pregnancy. The blood of the expectant mother is extracted to test the concentration of alpha-fetoprotein and hCG in the blood cells of the expectant mother. Combined with the expectant mother's due date, age and gestational age when the blood is drawn, the risk of "Down syndrome" is calculated. Higher quality alpha-fetoprotein is associated with open neural tube defects. When the expectant mother is 35 years old or older, this test can detect most fetuses with congenital diseases such as Down syndrome and 18-three syndrome.

What should you pay attention to during pregnancy check-up

First, before the first examination, you should understand the health status of your relatives and loved ones' family members. If possible, ask your lover to check up with you, especially if it is the first time. He should ask about your past physical condition and whether there is a family history of genetic diseases. He can also consult and understand many issues related to pregnancy, give you the best understanding and help throughout the pregnancy, and share the joy of pregnancy.

Second, you should empty your bladder before measuring the uterine height: Accurately measuring the uterine height and fetal abdominal circumference is a new item that the doctor must do during every examination. The uterine height is measured by accurately measuring the distance from the center of the upper edge of the ischial tuberosity to the highest point of the bottom of the uterus after the pregnant woman has urinated. It reflects the length of the longitudinal diameter of the uterus and is measured in centimeters. The fetal abdominal circumference is the length of a circle around the abdomen through the navel, also measured in centimeters. It can reflect the thickness diameter and the front-back and left-right diameters of the uterus. Therefore, uterine height and fetal abdominal circumference can indirectly reflect the size of the uterus. The bladder is in front of the uterus. If the bladder is full, it will increase the height of the uterus and affect the accuracy of the measurement. Therefore, you must empty your bladder before accurately measuring the uterine height.

In general, a comprehensive checkup before delivery is a project for everyone and we need to take it seriously. Here, the editor recommends that friends who are doing pregnancy check-ups should sit quietly for 30 minutes to measure their blood pressure, don't eat too much, and keep their mental state calm, calm and composed, and don't be anxious.
