What does it mean when a pregnant woman has a positive Rh blood type?

When we are sick or feel uncomfortable, we rush to the hospital. In most cases, the doctor will ask for blood tests to understand the condition and how to treat it. However, some women will also undergo blood tests when they are pregnant to see what their blood type is. Some pregnant women are found to have type O blood, but Rh blood type is positive. What does this mean? Let’s watch it together.

What does it mean if a pregnant woman has an RH positive blood type?

If the pregnant woman's blood type is Rh positive, there is no need to worry. This means that your blood, like most people, has the Rh factor. Babies born to mothers with Rh positive blood are less likely to develop hemolytic disease of the newborn.

Common problems for pregnant women with blood type O

If the mother is type O and the father is type A, B, or AB, they belong to the high-risk group and need to regularly maintain the antibody titer during pregnancy. The standard value should be above 1:64. On the contrary, if it is 1:128 or 1:256, you need to be alert to the possibility of hemolysis. If there is any abnormality, you can treat it during pregnancy and take Chinese medicine or injection under the guidance of a doctor, as long as it is within the standard value by the time of delivery. If the treatment during pregnancy is not satisfactory, treatment can still be given after the baby is born. If a pregnant woman has had frequent miscarriages, neonatal hemolysis, early neonatal jaundice, or neonatal anemia, edema, etc. in the past, she should suspect that her blood is incompatible with the fetus and should undergo examination and diagnosis. If the child's blood type does not match the mother's after birth, medical treatment should be sought as soon as possible.

When a pregnant woman herself has type O blood, but through blood testing, it is found that the Rh blood type is positive, there is no need to worry, as this means that the child is not likely to have neonatal hemolytic disease. However, women who are pregnant today need to be vigilant in all aspects so that they can have a happy mental state to ensure the health of the baby.
