Human papillomavirus is a genus of papillomavirus infection A belonging to the family Papillomaviridae. It is a spherical DNA virus that can cause proliferation in the squamous epithelium of the skin and mucous membranes of the human body. The main manifestations are common warts, genital warts (condyloma acuminatum) and other symptoms. With the rapid increase in the prevalence of genital warts among sexually transmitted diseases and the increase in cervical cancer, anal cancer, etc., human papillomavirus infection (HPV) infection has attracted more and more attention.

Can papillomavirus infection be cured?

Can HPV infection be cured? Yes. 50%-90% of HPV infections are "transient infections" and will be eliminated and cured by the body's immune system within 2 years; a very small number of persistent infections exceed 3 years and cannot be cured; persistent infection with high-risk HPV within 10 years may develop into cancer.

Infection method:

1. Sexual transmission;

2. Deeper contact;

3. Indirect contact: by touching the infected person’s clothes, daily necessities, supplies, etc.;

4. Nosocomial infection: Medical staff do not take good safety precautions when treating patients, resulting in their own infection or transmitting the infection to patients through medical staff;

5. Mother-to-child transmission: It is caused by the baby's deeper contact with the pregnant woman's birth canal.

Treatment

1. Physical therapy: The purpose is to remove tumors and subclinical infections that are visible to the human eye.

Methods include: laser, microwave heating, refrigeration, electrocautery, surgical removal (LEEP knife for gynecology, etc.), photodynamic therapy, etc.

2. Medication treatment: 0.5% podophyllotoxin tincture, 5% imiquimod, 50% trichloroacetic acid, fluorouracil cream, etc.

3. Immunotherapy depends on reducing the onset of disease and accelerating the elimination of disease. The therapeutic drugs include: interferon suppository, interleukin, thymosin, transfer factor, BCG, isotretinoin, autoimmune vaccine, etc.
