Sex hormones: high prolactin

Sex hormones: high prolactin

When many women go to the hospital for a physical examination, the most worrying thing is that the test results are not good news. Some women go to the hospital for a six-item test of sex hormones and find that their prolactin is high, but they don’t know why, and don’t know what to do. Many people just listen to the doctor’s advice. So what is the reason for the high prolactin in the six sex hormones?

What is the reason for high prolactin in the six sex hormones?

If prolactin is high among the six sex hormones, it is necessary to determine the cause. Is the cause of the elevated prolactin in the pituitary gland, the uterus or the ovary, or is it a molecular problem? If the level of prolactin, one of the six sex hormones, rises slightly, from the perspective of pregnancy, it will not affect the ovulation period and does not need to be treated. If the secretin level is very high, it has affected ovulation and caused infertility, and medication is needed. Or if the secretin level is very high, it may be a large microadenoma of the pituitary gland. Such patients need to go to the neurosurgery department for treatment. There are many reasons why prolactin is high. When the lactogen level in the blood is too high, it is called hyperprolactinuria, also known as galactorrhea and amenorrhea syndrome.

If prolactin is slightly high and does not affect ovulation, no treatment is required. If prolactin increases significantly and has affected ovulation or even caused infertility, it can be adjusted through the following methods: 1. If the body's hormone content is affected by irregular daily life or emotional state, the endocrine balance can be adjusted by adjusting the daily diet rhythm and maintaining a happy mood. At the same time, the relative proportions of various hormones in the body can be balanced to alleviate the symptoms of high prolactin in the body. 2. Treatment can be carried out by taking drugs that increase the body's estrogen content, such as progesterone and estradiol. Increasing the body's estrogen content can compensatorily antagonize the content of prolactin in the body, thereby effectively alleviating the symptoms of high prolactin. 3. If a pituitary tumor occurs in the human body and causes high levels of prolactin, the symptoms can be alleviated by timely treatment of the pituitary tumor. One of the main causes of elevated lactase is pituitary tumors. Because the tumor is composed of cells that metabolize lactase, these cells will excrete lactase excessively when they cannot control the environment. In addition, factors such as stress on the pituitary stalk can also cause an increase in lactase. Taking medications such as progesterone, dexamethasone, aldosterone inhibitors, excessive exercise, and trauma may all increase the metabolism of lactone. Common symptoms include breast pain, milk leakage, scanty menstrual blood flow, and amenorrhea.

The effects of the drug can also cause an increase in lactogen. Birth control pills can cause an increase in lactogen and a decrease in gonadotropin, which are metabolized by the pituitary gland. Long-term use of drugs such as reserpine, chlorpromazine, and sedatives will change the production, absorption, and metabolism of bile alkaloids, thereby inhibiting the release of prolactin inhibitory factors, resulting in excessive secretion of prolactin.

In addition, primary thyroid hormone deficiency, refractory amenorrhea and galactorrhea syndrome, hyperactivity of primary thyroid cysts, renal insufficiency, bronchial cancer and other diseases, renal insufficiency, and malignant tumors in other parts of the body can also cause increased lactogen levels.

High prolactin symptoms

Lactin is an active polypeptide growth hormone, one of the growth hormones metabolized by the pituitary gland, also known as prolactin. Generally, women's lactogen will be metabolized abundantly during the late pregnancy and breastfeeding period, which can promote the growth and development of the mammary glands and the secretion of milk.

If prolactin is too high, the following symptoms may occur:

1. Irregular menstruation. Primary amenorrhea, secondary amenorrhea, scanty menstrual flow, functional uterine bleeding, insufficient corpus luteum, etc. Irregular menstruation may affect women's pregnancy, leading to infertility, habitual miscarriage and other consequences. It may also cause women to have low libido, excessive hair growth, and acne.

2. Spilling of milk. Milk can be seen by squeezing both breasts, and fat droplets can be seen under the microscope. Galactorrhea can be divided into non-tumor type, tumor type, and simple galactorrhea. Most breasts are normal or accompanied by lobular hyperplasia or breast enlargement.

3. Bone hyperplasia is reduced. Long-term reduction in estrogen levels due to HP can lead to a decrease in normal bone density.

4. When prolactin is high, women may experience visual impairment, central nervous system problems, hypopituitarism, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral tissue rhinorrhoea and other symptoms.
