What is the cause of the hard lump in the female breast?

Breast lumps are a common clinical symptom of breast disease. Various diseases can manifest as breast lumps, and their characteristics are different. The following are 5 common diseases that can cause breast lumps for your reference.

1. Breast hyperplasia

Breast hyperplasia is usually accompanied by breast lumps. The lumps are irregular in shape and expand or shrink with the menstrual cycle. They are often accompanied by breast pain or tingling.

2. Breast fibroids

Breast fibroids are the most common malignant tumors in young women. Most of them are painless lumps that are small in the early stages but grow rapidly.

3. Breast cancer

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor. In the early stage, it appears as a painless, solitary lump, which grows rapidly, is hard in color, and is not easy to grow.

4. Mastitis

Mastitis can easily lead to cystic breast lumps, which are usually painful, and the skin on the surface of the breast will turn red and hot, and the whole body will feel hot.

5. Breast lipoma

Lipomas can occur in any structure with adipose tissue, but are most common in the epidermis and breasts. It mostly occurs in obese female patients, and the age of onset is more common between 30 and 50 years old.

Because breast lumps can be benign or malignant, if female friends find any discomfort such as lumps, bumps, hard masses, or lumps in their breasts, they must go to a professional breast specialist clinic in time to find out the cause and treat it with medication. If breast lumps are not treated promptly, they may turn into malignant diseases, or they may simply be cysts caused by inflammation.

How do I know if a breast lump is risky?

The doctor will usually first understand the time when the lump was discovered, its growth, and whether there is any abnormal fluid leakage from the nipple. Then conduct a routine physical examination to observe whether the nipples are dimpled, whether they are symmetrical, and whether the skin around the lumps has orange peel-like changes. The lump will then be palpated for size, strength, and connection to the skin, and the armpit will be palpated for any enlarged lymph nodes. Finally, B-ultrasound, molybdenum target and other examinations are performed.

Based on the above examinations, the doctor can comprehensively judge whether the lump is benign or malignant. If it is considered to be a benign lump, it can be removed in the hospital and then sent for pathological examination; if everything is normal, no further treatment is needed. If it is a malignant tumor, further surgical treatment is required, and breast cancer resection must be performed immediately. Patients should be prepared for breast cancer resection (including economically, physically, mentally, and at work).

Generally speaking, inflammatory breast lumps are often accompanied by more severe breast pain. The lump part is also accompanied by obvious inflammatory reactions such as redness, swelling, heat, and pain. The lump can become purulent and rupture. After anti-infection treatment and local drainage methods, the inflammation will subside and the lump can disappear. Hyperplastic breast lumps are often accompanied by early menstrual breast pain. After menstruation, the pain subsides and the lumps may also shrink to a certain extent. The lumps are often multiple, soft or tough in color, and some may have mild to moderate dull pain. They will improve to varying degrees after treatment with therapeutic drugs. In general, once you find a lump in your breast, you must go to the hospital for a physical examination immediately to prevent the disease from becoming malignant.
