Pregnant women or pregnant women with intrauterine infection often have fever, axillary temperature higher than 37.5℃, rapid pulse, increased white blood cell count, and in severe cases, toxic shock may occur. The embryo, fetal membranes and amniotic fluid are meconium-stained and have a foul odor.

The risk of infection in pregnant women increases as the time since amniotic fluid ruptures increases.
