Age of menopause in women

Age of menopause in women

Women begin to have their first menstruation in their teens, which lasts for decades, and they will go into menopause when they reach a certain age. This is an inevitable process. However, there is still a lot of controversy about the age at which women enter menopause because of the great individual differences. So when is it normal for women to enter menopause?

Generally speaking, as women age, various body functions decline, especially the ovaries gradually decline. Most of them are around 50 years old. The basic functions of their uterus and ovaries disappear, and the uterus and ovaries stop ovulating once a month. We call this female menopause. Generally speaking, premature menopause is a great risk factor for women. Statistics show that for women who experience menopause before the age of 40, their risk of death is nearly 40% higher than that of women who experience menopause after the age of 45, 60% higher than that of women who experience menopause after the age of 50, and 90% higher than that of women who experience menopause after the age of 55. It is precisely because of this that many women try their best to slow down and postpone the age of menopause, which is of great significance to women's reproductive health.

Generally speaking, the most important factor that determines a woman's age of menopause is the number of oocytes. When every baby girl is born, there are about one million oocytes in her ovaries. As she ages, the number of oocytes in her body will gradually decrease. When the number of oocytes drops to a critical number, menopause will occur. This is the age of menopause for the woman. The data show that the average menopause age for women in different regions is different. It is 52 years old for women in Europe and the United States, 50 years old for Asian women, and 48 years old for women in Africa. In addition, the average menopause age for women in dry and cold areas is earlier than that for women in warm and humid areas; the average menopause age for women in areas with high altitudes is earlier than that for women in areas with low altitudes.

Generally speaking, women who are short, underweight, and malnourished will enter menopause 3-4 years earlier than women who are strong, nutritious, and of moderate weight; women with chronic active hepatitis, endocrine abnormalities, and metabolic disorders will enter menopause earlier than healthy women of the same age; women with disharmonious sex life, marital discord, and long-term depression will also enter menopause earlier.
