Can I wear an IUD during breastfeeding? Can I wear an IUD during breastfeeding?

What we call "inserting an IUD" is also called wearing an IUD, and some people call it inserting an IUD. The IUD refers to the contraceptive ring (contraceptive ring), which is the most common and highly effective contraceptive method for women of childbearing age in my country. Usually, an ring is left in the body for more than ten years. IUD insertion itself is a minimally invasive surgery, placing a foreign body in the uterus, and requires a full process for the human body to adapt.

Removing the IUD refers to the IUD that was inserted. The function of the IUD is to prevent pregnancy during the growth period. After entering menopause (45 years old), the chance of pregnancy is almost zero, and the side effects of the ring are obviously manifested. The IUD should be removed in time.

How to choose the type of contraceptive ring

Mirena: Suitable for those with a history of the ring sinking and falling off, and those with a large uterine cavity.

Yummale: Suitable for the small and soft uterus during breastfeeding.

Y-type ring: no special situation, suitable for every contraceptive woman.

T-ring: Suitable for women who have never been pregnant or have a tight cervix.

Round ring: suitable for those with a smaller uterine cavity and a tight cervical opening.

The best time for women to have an IUD

1. Within 7 days after the menstrual period

At this time, the uterine wall is still in the growth and development stage, and the slight damage caused by the IUD can be eliminated in a short time. In addition, because the cervix is tighter at this moment, the "ring" is less likely to fall off. However, please note that you cannot have sex before inserting the IUD.

2. After artificial abortion

If a woman needs an abortion because of unmarried pregnancy, she can get an IUD inserted immediately after the abortion. Performing two major surgeries at one time is not only convenient, but also makes women feel more relaxed.

3. 7 days after spontaneous abortion and menstrual recovery

Women who have experienced spontaneous abortion can insert an IUD within 7 days after their menstrual period resumes.

4. Choose a natural birth after 6 weeks

Women who choose to give birth naturally can have an IUD inserted during the checkup 6 weeks after delivery. At this point, the uterus is already a similar size to when preparing for pregnancy. The cervix is not likely to be too tight, so it is easy to insert an IUD. In addition, since the couple has not resumed sexual intercourse at this time, accidental pregnancy can also be avoided.

5. During caesarean section or more than six months after giving birth

If a woman has a caesarean section, the ring can be inserted during delivery. At this time, the best location can be chosen for placement of the ring, and it will not cause additional pain or mental stress to the pregnant woman. Caesarean section is based on the principle of aseptic operation, and in this case, it is not easy to cause infection to the human body when the ring is inserted. Of course, women can also wait until their bodies are safe for more than six months after giving birth to get an IUD.

Who should not use the IUD?

1. Women with inflammation of male reproductive organs, such as vaginal inflammation, pelvic inflammation, etc.

2. Women who have frequent menstruation and heavy menstrual flow, or who have non-menstrual bleeding in the vagina.

3. Women with tumors in their male reproductive organs, such as uterine tumors, ovarian cancer, etc.

4. If the body has serious safety risks, such as heart failure, severe anemia, etc., it is not suitable to insert an IUD.

5. Some women's cervix is too loose, there are very serious tear symptoms, or the condition of uterine prolapse is very serious. It is not suitable for IUD insertion, because the IUD can easily fall off after insertion.

Although inserting and removing the IUD is a minor operation, in order to avoid the risk of infection during the operation, it is recommended that everyone go to a professional hospital for physical examination and surgery.
