How old is considered an advanced maternal age?

Generally, women who start giving birth at the age of 35 or above can be called older primiparas. The reason why this age group is set at 35 years old is mainly because current statistics show that the percentage of abnormal babies is higher in first-time mothers over 35 years old and those under 35 years old, so they are called older mothers.

Precisely targeted at those over 35 years old. Compared with primiparas in their 20s, older primiparas have a higher rate of developing pregnancy-induced hypertension during pregnancy, and a higher rate of using cesarean section, vacuum delivery, prenatal delivery, and neonatal asphyxia. The abnormality rate of first births at an older age is often so high, mainly because with age, the body's hormonal imbalance, genetic chromosomes, and immune system may also have abnormalities, and when the resistance is low, it is likely to be stimulated by more adverse external factors during pregnancy, resulting in a relatively high incidence of fetal malformations. Also, due to the insufficient stretching force of the muscles of the birth canal, it takes a long time for the fetus to pass through the birth canal, so the chance of neonatal asphyxia is relatively high.

30 years old is the best time for women to have a baby. This time is not considered an older pregnancy. Generally, women over 35 years old are considered an older pregnancy. When women are over 35 years old, their physical fitness will decline, and the quality of their egg cells will also decline, which will increase the chance of having a deformed baby and the chance of complications during pregnancy.

It is recommended that women should conceive at an appropriate age to reduce the risk of childbirth as much as possible. Women over 30 can prepare for pregnancy normally and take folic acid tablets during the period.
