Pregnant women breathe formaldehyde for 8 hours a day

The bodies of pregnant women are more special than those of ordinary people, so care during pregnancy is very important. Especially for newly renovated houses, pregnant women should take good protection instead of moving in immediately. There are still some formaldehyde gas residual in many new houses. If pregnant women inhale formaldehyde gas for a long time, it will not only affect their own health, but may also affect the development of the fetus. So is it harmful for pregnant women to inhale formaldehyde for 8 hours a day?

1. Pregnant women will have serious effects if they inhale formaldehyde for eight hours a day. Formaldehyde can cause early pregnancy embryo arrest and miscarriage, may cause fetal developmental abnormalities, and may also cause the fetus to develop blood system diseases after birth. Therefore, it is not recommended for pregnant women to live in newly renovated houses or newly purchased furniture. The harm of formaldehyde is relatively large. If the formaldehyde content in the house exceeds the standard, not only pregnant women are not suitable to live in it, but anyone is not suitable to live in such a house as it can easily induce cancer.

2. When pregnant women stay in a room with formaldehyde concentration higher than 0.24-0.55 mg/cubic meter, their circulatory system, immune, reproductive and metabolic functions will be affected, and they are also very likely to experience symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, irritability, excitement, and insomnia. If a pregnant woman stays in a room containing formaldehyde for a long time, it will easily aggravate pregnancy syndrome, and the symptoms of dizziness, weakness, nausea and retching will become more serious. In addition, it may induce fetal chromosomal abnormalities, leading to fetal malformations, brain damage, congenital heart disease and other defects.

3. Long-term exposure of pregnant women to formaldehyde can cause poisoning, anemia and miscarriage, and can also lead to fetal weight loss, fetal malformation and even death. Therefore, pregnant women should minimize exposure to formaldehyde, especially in the first three months of pregnancy. The reactions to formaldehyde poisoning are usually similar to those of pregnancy, such as dizziness, vomiting, and frequent colds, which can easily cause poisoned pregnant women to mistakenly believe that they are pregnancy reactions and ignore them. In this way, expectant mothers stay in a room containing formaldehyde toxic gas for a long time without realizing its harm, which affects the development of the fetus, greatly shortens the pregnancy period, and may even cause miscarriage in severe cases.
