The cervix is a very important part of a woman. The main reproductive organs of a woman are all in the cervix. If there is an abnormality in this part, it may have very serious consequences. Some women are found to have cervical transformation zone type 2 during physical examinations and are very worried that they may have cancer. So, is cervical transformation zone type 2 cancer? Let’s take a look below. After puberty, the columnar epithelium of the cervical canal and the stromal components beneath it reach the cervical vaginal part, causing the original squamocolumnar junction to move outward to the inner side of the original squamocolumnar junction. Due to the stroma beneath the single-layer columnar epithelial cells covering the cervical canal, a red area with a fine granular appearance appears, which is called columnar epithelial outward migration. Under the action of acidic environment or pathogenic bacteria, the columnar epithelium that migrates outward is gradually replaced by squamous epithelium from the inner side of the original squamous-columnar junction toward the cervical opening, forming a new squamous-columnar junction and a physiological squamous-columnar junction. The area between the original squamous-columnar junction and the physiological squamous-columnar junction is called the transformation zone. The one that is completely visible is called a type I transformation zone, and the one that is partially visible is called a type II transformation zone. Whether there is cancer needs to be confirmed by cervical cytology and human papillomavirus testing, and a cervical biopsy under colposcopy if necessary. Cervical transformation zone types The cervical transformation zone is divided into three levels, namely cervical transformation zone level one, cervical transformation zone level two and cervical transformation zone level three. Different levels of transformation indicate different conditions in the cervix and the body is in different states. Cervical transformation zone level one is normal. During a colposcopy, the cervical epithelium can be found, but the endocervical canal endometrium cannot be observed. Cervical transformation zone level two indicates a bit of atrophy, and when it comes to cervical transformation zone level three, it means that it has basically atrophied, which usually occurs in menopausal women. The cervical transformation zone is also known as the transitional zone. The junction of the squamous epithelium and columnar epithelium of the cervix is called the squamous-columnar junction. This area is also a high-incidence site for cervical cancer. Depending on the different morphological changes that occur, there will be many different situations. The squamous-columnar junction is further divided into the primitive squamous-columnar junction and the physiological squamous-columnar junction. Cervical lesions can also be divided into three levels: low-grade cervical lesions, also known as cervical lesions cin1 level, moderate cervical lesions, also known as cervical lesions cin2 level, and severe cervical lesions, also known as cervical lesions cin3 level. Type 1 cervical transformation zone is normal. In this case, during colposcopy, the cervical epithelium can be observed, but the endocervical canal cannot be observed. In addition to type 1 cervical transformation zone, there are type 2 and type 3 cervical transformation zone. Type 2 indicates a little atrophy, while type 3 indicates basic atrophy. |
