Pregnant women should keep these precautions in mind when measuring blood sugar

Pregnant women should pay attention to controlling their blood sugar. Too high or too low will affect the healthy development of the baby in the abdomen. Be careful not to measure blood sugar on an empty stomach, and do not take medicine without authorization, otherwise you will not get the corresponding results. You should also pay attention to reasonable control of the amount of food and sugar intake after dinner or meals. Try not to take medicine at home and then go for blood test, so as to prevent examination errors.

When measuring blood sugar, please note:

1. Do not stop taking medication without authorization in order to check your fasting blood sugar. The test results obtained in this way will not accurately reflect the condition and will cause high blood sugar levels and aggravate the condition.

2. For patients who inject premixed insulin before breakfast and dinner, if there is a delay in going to the hospital for blood test in the morning, they can temporarily change to inject "short-acting insulin" after blood test and before meal. This can not only eliminate the increase in blood sugar caused by delayed treatment, but also avoid the two injections of "premixed insulin" in the morning and evening on the day of examination being too close.

3. For patients who are treated with oral hypoglycemic drugs, if the blood is drawn too late and the morning and noon doses are taken too close together, the noon dose can be reduced as appropriate to avoid hypoglycemia due to the combined effects of the drugs.

4. For patients who are injected with intermediate-acting insulin before bedtime, since the blood sugar lowering effect can be maintained until 8 to 9 o'clock the next day, the blood sample collection time for fasting blood sugar testing can be slightly later.

5. Do not go to the hospital for blood drawing after injecting insulin at home. Since the time to complete the blood draw is difficult to predict, if the blood draw cannot be completed within half an hour, the meal time will inevitably be delayed, which may induce severe hypoglycemia.

6. If the time for blood collection cannot be determined, you may as well take normal treatment and eat at home in the morning, and then go to the hospital to measure your blood sugar 2 hours after the meal. This will not affect normal meals and medication, and will not cause fluctuations in blood sugar. More and more studies have shown that postprandial blood sugar can better reflect whether the amount of meals and medication is appropriate.
