What to do if nipples are scabbed during pregnancy

The lactation period is a very important period, especially the health of the breasts, which is directly related to the feeding of the child. Because nipples need to continuously secrete milk, some new mothers fail to clean them in time, which causes scabs on their nipples, and they don’t know the correct solution. So, what should you do if your nipples have scabs during pregnancy? Let’s take a look below.

1. Scrub your breasts with warm water every day. If the nipple scab is difficult to remove, you can apply some vegetable oil first, and then wash it with clean water after the scab softens. Regularly scrubbing the nipples can enhance the toughness of the nipple skin and prevent postpartum nipple skin cracking.

2. Scrub the nipples frequently with mild soap and water to remove cradle cap and apply oil to the nipples.

3. Massage your breasts correctly after bathing. After cleaning the areola and nipples each time, cover the breasts with a hot towel and press gently with your hands. After cleaning the breasts, apply some edible olive oil. Use your fingers to gently massage the breasts in a clockwise direction from the inside to the outside. Use the pads of your fingers to gently massage around the breasts in circles. Gently press the breasts and gently massage from all sides toward the nipples. Press the edge of the areola with your thumb and index finger, and then gently squeeze with two fingers.

How to take care of your breasts during late pregnancy

1. After each bath, apply olive oil or vitamin ointment on the nipples, and gently rub the nipples and surrounding areas with your thumb and index finger for about 5 minutes. If you do this every day, the nipple skin will become less delicate, and the mother will not feel pain when the baby sucks the nipple after birth.

2. If you have flat or inverted nipples, you can correct them now. Use your thumb, index finger, and middle finger to pinch the nipple, gently pull it outwards, hold for a moment, pull it 15 times each time, and do it 3 times a day. A breast pump can also be used for correction.

3. Use cold water massage to promote circulation. Cold water can stimulate blood circulation in the body, keeping the blood vessels and tissue fibers of the breast elastic, such as the skin becoming tighter.
