Contractions every 5 minutes

Contractions every 5 minutes

Uterine contraction is a condition that mothers will experience in the late stages of pregnancy. Uterine contraction can be divided into pathological and latent. Generally, there will be many false uterine contractions before a pregnant woman gives birth. Only when pathological uterine contraction occurs will the expectant mother give birth. So, if the uterus contracts every five minutes, how long will it take to give birth?

1. How long will it take to give birth if the uterus contracts every five minutes?

If it is regular uterine contraction, it is possible that the baby is about to be born, or it is possible that it is a hidden uterine contraction. If you want to know whether the pregnant woman is close to giving birth, you can ask the doctor to check the condition of the cervix. Signs of labor are: spotting, regular uterine contractions and a lowered fetal head position. Among them, spotting during pregnancy is a more reliable information. Generally, the delivery process will begin 24-48 hours after spotting during pregnancy.

In the weeks before delivery, the uterine muscles are more sensitive and contractions may be irregular, short-lived, weak, or limited to the lower part of the uterus. If it stops after several hours and the cervix cannot dilate, it is not labor and is called false labor. The contractions during labor are tangible and perceptible. In the early stage, the interval is about 10 minutes, and the pregnant woman feels abdominal cramps, and then the duration of the pain gradually increases to 40 seconds to 60 seconds. As the level intensifies, the time interval decreases to about 3-5 minutes. When abdominal pain occurs during uterine contractions, the lower abdomen may feel a little hard.

2. Uterine contraction before delivery

The key sign of labor is regular uterine contractions. The speed of cervical dilation is closely related to the degree of uterine contractions. If there are regular and gradually increasing uterine contractions, lasting 30 seconds or more, with an interval of 5 to 6 minutes, the upper abdomen feels more comfortable than before, the appetite increases significantly, the breathing is more brisk than before, and there is a small amount of vaginal bleeding, these are all signs of delivery.

The entire delivery process for the first birth takes about 12 to 18 hours, and for some pregnant women it may take even longer due to some reasons. Therefore, it should be noted that delivery is a process that requires waiting. Uterine contraction plays a leading role in shortening the waiting process.

As uterine contractions increase, on the one hand, it can promote the dilation of the cervical opening and accelerate the progress of the delivery process. On the other hand, it also causes pregnant women to feel heaviness, soreness or tearing pain in the lower abdomen or lumbar sacral area. You should know that every uterine contraction is accompanied by the descent of the baby from the dilation of the cervix, but these are all very slow. Generally, it takes a long time for the cervical opening to dilate to 3 centimeters. Once it reaches 3 centimeters, the delivery process will progress much faster.

The discomfort of pregnant women before delivery varies from person to person, but most of them start with uterine contraction. 12% of pregnant women have their water breaking before the delivery process, which is early water breaking. Regardless of the circumstances of the water breaking, you must go to the hospital, because water breaking sometimes may lead to umbilical cord prolapse, especially when the presenting part is not large or the presenting part has not descended to the pelvis. Therefore, pregnant women should go to the hospital for pregnancy check-up in time to ensure the safety of maternal and child products.
