What to do if you take cough medicine during pregnancy

What to do if you take cough medicine during pregnancy

As we all know, you cannot take medicine casually during pregnancy, because some medicines have a relatively large impact on the fetus, and may even cause fetal malformations or miscarriage. But some women take cough medicine during pregnancy. In this case, it is necessary to have a prenatal check-up in time. If there are any abnormalities, you can handle them according to your own hospital. Of course, for women who are already pregnant, it is best to relieve symptoms through the following methods during pregnancy!

1. Honey water

Honey has a good cough-relieving and lubricating effect, and many older people know this method. Brew honey water and drink it every morning and evening. The best effect is to take it directly orally, let it stay in the throat for a while and swallow slowly. When choosing honey, it is recommended to buy fresh pure honey, and it is best to buy it from a bee farm you are familiar with.

2. Stewed pears with rock sugar and honey

Peel the fresh pears, split them in half and remove the cores. Add appropriate amount of rock sugar and steam them in a pot until soft. When it is not so hot anymore, add appropriate amount of honey and eat it directly.

3. Baking oranges

Use chopsticks to make a hole in the center of the bottom of the orange, stuff some salt in it, wrap it with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Take it out, peel the orange peel and eat it while it's hot. Or you can dry the orange peel into dried tangerine peel, add water to make tea, and drink it in big gulps. It has amazing effects.

4. Stewed pear with Sichuan Fritillary Bulbs

Use peeled and cored fresh pears, add 2 grams of Fritillaria cirrhosa powder, steam in a pot until soft, and eat while hot.

5. White radish candy

Cut the white radish into 1 cm dices, put them into a dry, clean container, fill it with honey, cover it tightly, and soak it for about 3 days. The water will seep out and mix with the honey. Store it in the refrigerator. Scoop out a little each time and add warm water to drink. It has a very good cough-relieving effect. If you want to drink it suddenly and don't have time to soak it, you can grind the white radish, add 1/3 amount of honey, mix well, and then add warm water to drink.

6. Candied Kumquat

Wash the kumquats, poke two or three holes with a toothpick, add water to cover them and bring to a boil, add rock sugar, simmer over low heat, and eat while hot. Let the unfinished drink cool down and store in the refrigerator. Scoop some out each time and eat it warm.

In short, some women will experience coughing during pregnancy. If the cough is severe, they may not be able to sleep all night. However, you cannot use medicine blindly for coughing, so it is better for expectant mothers to adopt diet therapy.
