Why is the labia majora itchy?

Many women will experience itchy labia majora. Naturally, women will pay special attention to this condition. After all, it is a very private and important organ of their body. If there is any serious disease in this part, it will have a great impact on sexual life and fertility. So what causes itchy labia majora? Let me introduce it in detail below.

If the labia majora pruritus occurs, it is mainly related to the following factors: First, the stimulation of chronic inflammation, such as vulvar dermatitis and vulvar eczema, can cause itching of the labia majora, or the secretions of vaginal inflammation stimulate the vulva, which can cause itching of the labia majora. In addition, wearing tight synthetic underwear, or unclean vulva, and not changing sanitary napkins for a long time will lead to poor ventilation and cause vulva itching. Certain parasites, such as pubic lice, pinworms or scabies, can cause itching of the labia majora.

There are also skin diseases of the labia majora and vulvar tumors, such as vulvar cancer, which can cause pain and itching of the vulva. In addition, systemic diseases can also cause vulvar itching. For example, diabetes, the stimulation of urine sugar, causes vulvar itching; or uremia, high creatinine leads to skin itching; or vitamin deficiency can all cause vulvar itching, so if the labia majora is itchy, you must go to the hospital to find out the cause and then treat it according to different causes.

Generally speaking, the most common types of infection in vulvovaginal inflammation are fungal inflammation, which often causes vulvovaginal burning pain, excessive secretions, and severe itching. Then we can choose Daktarin suppositories, clotrimazole vaginal tablets, or nystatin suppositories to treat inflammation through vaginal medication. If the symptoms on the labia and vulva are obvious, you can apply Daktarin cream or clotrimazole cream to relieve the symptoms and treat the disease. If the symptoms are caused by bacterial vaginosis or Trichomonas vaginitis, you can choose metronidazole or tinidazole for treatment. During the treatment, all underwear must be ironed or exposed to the sun, and sexual intercourse is not allowed during the treatment. Sometimes other pathogens may be detected, such as gonococcal, mycoplasma, chlamydia and other infections, which also require targeted treatment.
