How painful is childbirth?

Before giving birth, mothers will feel obvious labor pains, which means they are about to give birth, and the pain is extremely intense. Many mothers will break out in cold sweats and tremble uncontrollably because of the pain, and even their emotions will be greatly affected. At this time, they need to stay calm as much as possible to avoid being hurt during the delivery process.

How painful is childbirth?

The pain caused by uterine contractions will continue throughout the delivery process. Uterine contraction pain is mainly in the lower abdomen, and sometimes occurs on the inner thighs or above the spine. Most women feel contractions that are similar to menstrual cramps, but more intense. When the fetus is about to be born, the mother will feel a burning sensation and intense pain in the perineum and vulva due to the expansion of these areas. Finding a comfortable position and taking deep breaths while relaxed can help relieve labor pain.

Be fully prepared for the pain of childbirth. Childbirth is a natural physiological phenomenon, and labor pain is physiological pain that most people can endure. However, childbirth requires a period of severe pain. If the pregnant woman is not fully prepared mentally, she will be overwhelmed by the unexpected pain.

During labor, yelling and screaming can prolong the labor process.

Uterine fundus descent

A few weeks before delivery, as the fetal head enters the pelvis, pregnant women will feel a little more relaxed in their upper abdomen, and their breathing and appetite will also improve significantly, but they will urinate more frequently and walking will not be very comfortable. This is the reason for the descent of the uterine fundus.

Uterine contractions

A few days before delivery, pregnant women will feel their abdomen hardening, which may be accompanied by a slight feeling of heaviness. This is the contraction of the uterus. The uterine contractions at this time are often short-lived, with varying intervals, often occurring at night and disappearing in the early morning, and the cervix will not dilate. The vast majority of pregnant women give birth within two weeks before or after the due date. When you have regular abdominal pain, and the intervals between pains become shorter and shorter, and the pain duration becomes longer, it indicates that delivery is imminent.

Seeing red

24 to 48 hours before delivery, a small amount of bloody mucus is discharged from the vagina, which is called "bloody show", or water rupture, that is, the amniotic sac in the uterus ruptures and the amniotic fluid flows out. It is also a reliable sign of labor. Spotting may last for a few days, with a small amount of discharge each day; or it may occur suddenly. If the amount of spotting is heavy and exceeds the normal menstrual volume, you should go to the hospital and contact the doctor or midwife in time.
