Lump under the nipple

Lump under the nipple

If you feel a lump under the nipple, you must first find out the cause before you can develop a suitable treatment plan. Most patients require surgery for treatment. This treatment method can prevent the patient from recurring after the operation, and after the operation, there is basically no need to use medication. Only patients with worsening conditions need comprehensive treatment to control the disease.

1. Treatment of painless breast lumps

1. Benign lesions are treated surgically first. If they do not recur after surgery, no drug treatment is required.

2. Radical mastectomy is recommended for malignant lesions, followed by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy and other adjuvant treatments based on the patient's specific circumstances.

2. Treatment of painful breast lumps

1. For infectious masses, sensitive antibiotics are mainly used to treat infection, and surgical incision and drainage are performed when necessary.

2. Non-infectious tumors are treated with medication or surgery depending on the situation.

3. Treatment of lumps and swellings associated with nipple discharge

1. Intraductal papilloma

Intraductal papilloma is a benign tumor with a low chance of malignancy and is not ideally treated with medication. Surgical treatment is often used.

2. Papillary adenoma of the breast nipple

This disease is a benign tumor of the nipple. Surgery is the preferred treatment method. Generally, it can be cured by surgical removal of the nipple and tumor tissues.

3. Breast papillary adenoma

This disease is a benign tumor, and drug treatment is ineffective, so surgery is the only option. A biopsy should be performed before surgery.

4. Diagnosis and treatment of male breast lumps

1. Male breast cancer is generally considered to be unilateral, often located in the left breast. It is a painless lump with a hard texture and grows rapidly. There is also frequent nipple discharge. Male breast cancer will metastasize to the lymph nodes at an early stage. For those without metastasis, radical mastectomy can be performed. Elderly patients who cannot undergo surgery should have their testicles removed.

2. Malignant melanoma of the breast

The patient accidentally discovers a lump on or in the breast. There is usually a history of pigmented lesions at the site of the lesion. The pigmented spots grow suddenly and rapidly, and physical examination of the skin reveals inflammatory changes. Black or bluish-black, slightly raised or hemispherical or nodular tumors appear on the skin, growing in an invasive manner. Satellite nodules can be seen around the primary lesion. Treatment is mainly surgery.

3. Granular cell tumor of the breast

Generally, patients have no obvious clinical symptoms, and most of them present with solitary nodules. Histological findings: the tumor cells are large, polygonal or oval, and PAS-positive granules are evenly distributed in the cytoplasm. Tumor cells are closely related to peripheral nerves. It is a benign tumor and will not recur or metastasize after surgical treatment.
