Uterine wall thickness

Uterine wall thickness

I believe that most women should have some understanding of the structure of the uterus. In fact, the female uterus is generally a hollow organ, so the uterine wall is relatively weak. Recently, every abortion, induced labor or cesarean section will cause certain damage to the woman's uterine wall. Therefore, the more abortions a woman has, the weaker her uterine wall will be. So for normal women, what is the approximate range of the thickness of the uterine muscle wall?

The uterus is a hollow organ with a cavity inside that is lined with endometrium. Outside the endometrium is the uterine muscle wall. Generally, a normal thickness of the uterine muscle wall is 2-3 cm. Thickening of the uterine muscle wall generally indicates the occurrence of some diseases, such as uterine fibroids or adenomyosis. If uterine fibroids or adenomyosis occur, treatment is required based on the patient's symptoms. If there are no symptoms, thickening of the uterine muscle wall does not require any treatment. Patients with adenomyosis will experience unbearable dysmenorrhea, which affects their life and work and requires drug or surgical intervention. If patients with uterine fibroids do not have any symptoms, since uterine fibroids are a common and benign disease, no treatment is required.

Thickness standard of uterine wall scar

The thickness of the scarred uterine wall is different before and after childbirth. Therefore, if the thickness of the scarred uterine wall is abnormal before or after childbirth or after the first and second births, you should seek examination and treatment as soon as possible. So what is the standard for the thickness of the scarred uterine wall?

If it is a scarred uterus, the thickness of the uterus should be 0.3 cm or more. If it is less than 0.3 cm, the uterus is a bit thin and the pregnancy needs to be terminated early. That is, a caesarean section is needed in advance to prevent uterine rupture due to the uterus being too thin in the late pregnancy. Based on the child's biparietal diameter and femur length and other indicators, the child's weight is approximately 2810 grams.

Causes of scarring and thickness of uterine wall

The scarred uterine wall may be thick in some women and thin in others. But no matter whether it is thick or thin, you must pay attention, because it is not standard. So what causes the thickness of the uterine wall in scars?

The causes of scarred uterine wall thickness include cesarean section and cesarean section, myomectomy, gestational trophoblastic tumor, removal of myometrial lesions, spontaneous rupture of uterine lesions in choriocarcinoma and resection and repair of lesions, adnexectomy, correction of uterine malformation, damage to gynecological tumor radiotherapy devices, feticide, uterine abortion or scar formation caused by circular excision or curettage, trauma or foreign body penetration of the uterine cavity.

If you had a caesarean section for your first child, you must be careful when giving birth to your second child. If a caesarean section is performed for the second child, the scarred uterine wall will become thicker. If the scarred uterine wall is very thick after the first pregnancy, it will be very difficult to perform surgery for the second pregnancy and it will cause great pain to the pregnant woman.
