Estrogen changes during pregnancy

Estrogen changes during pregnancy

Most women need to go through the process of pregnancy. Of course, pregnancy still has certain effects on the human body. For example, many people will experience changes in estrogen after pregnancy. Changes in estrogen will also have certain effects on women's bodies, causing certain changes in pregnant women's bodies. So, how does estrogen change after pregnancy? This will be introduced below!

1. Hormone changes after pregnancy

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG): This hormone is released by the placenta after the blastocyst begins to implant in the uterus. Because it is the test hormone for pregnancy tests, it is called the "pregnancy hormone." HCG is very important because it triggers the activity of other hormones to maintain pregnancy and prevent menstrual cramps. However, HCG has some effects that are worth noting, especially its role in causing nausea and vomiting.

2. Progesterone

Progesterone plays an important role in maintaining pregnancy, including inhibiting strong uterine contractions and ensuring the safety of the fetus.

Progesterone maintains placental function, strengthens the pelvic wall of pregnant women in preparation for delivery, and relaxes certain ligaments and muscles in the body. But this relaxation can cause some unpleasant side effects.

Progesterone slows down the movement of intestinal muscles, often causing constipation and a feeling of fullness after meals. Progesterone also relaxes the sphincter (circular muscle) between the esophagus and stomach, which can cause heartburn. It also causes vein dilation and varicose veins.

Another important function of progesterone is to prepare the breasts for milk secretion. Stimulate the development of the mammary duct system, so that the mother can secrete milk during the second trimester of pregnancy.

3. Estrogen

It is another hormone that increases in the body during pregnancy. Estrogen stimulates the endometrium to grow very early in preparation for pregnancy and increases the number of blood vessels and glands in the uterine wall. Estrogen also increases blood volume in the body, which can occasionally cause bleeding gums or nosebleeds. One obvious effect of estrogen is to give your face a rosy complexion, leading to the well-known pregnancy glow.

4. Human chorionic chorionic lactogen (HCS)

Also known as human placental lactogen (HPL), it is secreted in large quantities by the placenta under the regulation of estrogen. It can promote breast development and prepare for breastfeeding; it can also mobilize fat energy in the pregnant woman's body to promote the growth and development of the baby.
