Can vaginal cysts be left untreated?

Pubic wall cyst is a relatively common symptom, and there are many causes of it. For example, infection may cause cysts over a long period of time. This type of cyst should be treated in time and not left untreated to avoid causing greater harm to the health of the female reproductive system. Generally speaking, it can be treated through cyst puncture surgery, and attention should be paid to the recovery of the body after the operation. Let's take a look at this aspect.

Can vaginal cysts be left untreated?

1. Cyst puncture and fluid extraction

Use a puncture needle to puncture the cyst from the bottom and extract the contents. After the cyst wall collapses, inject anhydrous ethanol, about 1/3 of the amount of extracted liquid.

2. Cystectomy

If a cyst located near the vaginal opening recurs after fluid drainage or involves a large area, cystectomy or ostomy may be performed.

3. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during the month of surgery, and vaginal cleansing fluid or sitz bath should be used appropriately.

Classification

1. Mesonephric duct cyst

It originates from the remnants of the mesonephric duct and is mostly located on the anterior or lateral wall of the vagina. It may be single or multiple, of varying sizes, with very thin walls and a lychee-like appearance, and contains a serous transparent fluid inside.

2. Paramesonephric duct cyst

Derived from the remnants of the paramesonephric duct. It often occurs in the lower 1/3 of the vagina, mostly in the vestibule, and contains mucous fluid.

Clinical manifestations and diagnosis

1. When the cyst is large, it may cause a foreign body sensation or compress adjacent organs, resulting in urination discomfort, sexual intercourse disorders, and may lead to infertility. When the cyst ruptures, liquid or bloody mucus may flow out.

2. Examination revealed cystic tumors in the vaginal wall, with thin walls, single or multiple. The extracted content is a relatively clear colorless liquid.

The disease is usually unilateral but can also be bilateral. There may be no symptoms for a long time and it is often discovered during a gynecological examination. The cyst grows slowly and is usually no larger than an egg. Larger cysts can cause swelling of the vulva and discomfort during sexual intercourse. Examination revealed that the mass occupied the middle and lower 1/3 of the entire vulva majora, the vulva minora was completely flattened, and the vaginal opening was pushed to the healthy side.

When a Bartholin's gland cyst becomes infected, it may form an abscess, and repeated infection may cause the cyst to expand. A reminder to fellow patients: Bartholin's gland cysts are extremely harmful and can seriously affect women's normal life. Do not take chances and delay treatment, otherwise you may suffer unimaginable consequences.
