There is a bag at the vaginal opening

The female vaginal opening is particularly sensitive and is also a part that is particularly prone to infection. 1 Leukoplakia vulvae is often accompanied by itching, even severe itching, which is usually a sign of progressive lichen sclerosis. Pain may also occur, especially when cracks appear.

2Except the vestibule and urethral orifice, other parts of the vulva may be affected, most commonly the clitoris, labia minora and inner surface of the labia majora. Fissures and ulcers are signs of a poor prognosis. The expansion of the lesion area may cause stenosis of the vaginal orifice, but the labia minora will not atrophy.

3 The characteristics of the lesions are basically the same as those of the oral mucosal leukoplakia. In the early stage, they are mostly single, irregular white patches with loss of elasticity and luster. They can expand and merge with each other. Due to the infiltration of vaginal secretions, they can often thicken. Some people only feel itching in the early stage and then turn into leukoplakia. In the late stage, the surface is keratinized, rough, hardened, pearly white, with papillary proliferation or atrophy. They feel severe itching, and often develop redness, swelling, cracking, and ulcers due to scratching.

4 In the late stage, if the skin lesions expand and harden, there is a possibility of secondary cancer. This disease can also be seen together with vulvar dryness.

5 Leukoplakia vulvae is a dynamic process. Lesions in different areas of the same patient may present different characteristics and manifestations, especially in patients with vulvitis and secondary lichenification. The course of the disease is unpredictable. In some cases, the lesions spread rapidly and widely, while in others, they may remain unchanged for several years.
