Many women find that their nipples are different on both sides when observing their nipples. This is most likely a problem caused by inverted nipples in women. Inverted nipples have a relatively large impact on women, especially for their future breastfeeding, it will have a very adverse effect. Next, I will introduce you to some relevant knowledge about inverted nipples! 1. Introduction and causes of inverted nipples Oriental women: The nipple diameter is 8-12mm, the height is 5-10mm; and the areola diameter is 30-34mm. Inverted nipple refers to the phenomenon that the female nipple does not protrude from the surface of the areola, and even sinks into the skin surface, with the local area resembling a crater. The incidence rate is 1 to 2%. The degree of nipple inversion may be inconsistent on both sides, or it may only occur on one side. The general causes of inverted nipples are sinking of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, hypoplasia of nipple smooth muscle, shortening of mammary ducts, and fibrosis and contracture of some tissues. Among them, shortening of mammary ducts and tissue fibrosis and contracture are the main causes of severe nipple inversion. Clinical observation shows that inverted nipples are mostly primary nipple deformities. II. Classification of severity and adverse effects (1) Nipple inversion varies in depth and can be divided into three degrees: ① Mild nipple inversion, the nipple neck exists and can be easily squeezed out. After squeezing out, the nipple is similar in size to that of a normal person; ② Moderate nipple inversion, the nipple is completely sunken into the areola, but can be squeezed out by hand. The nipple is smaller than normal and most of the time there is no nipple neck; ③ Severe nipple inversion, the nipple is completely buried under the areola and cannot be squeezed out. (2) The adverse effects of inverted nipples include: ① It is very easy to cause diseases such as nipple areola inflammation and breast inflammation; ② It seriously affects breastfeeding; ③ It affects the beauty of the breasts and the patient's mental health; ④ Inverted nipples are difficult to provide effective sexual stimulation, affecting the couple's sexual life. 3. Non-surgical treatment Mild inverted nipple can be treated with non-surgical conservative methods, and the best time for treatment is before marriage or in early pregnancy. Specific methods include: (1) Manual traction Adolescence is an important period for breast development and also an important period for correcting inverted nipples. Each exercise lasts for 5 minutes, at least twice a day. With long-term treatment, the nipples will gradually bulge outward. The advantage is that it does not damage the lactiferous ducts, but the disadvantage is that it is difficult to consolidate the therapeutic effect and is prone to relapse; (2) Suction therapy: After pregnancy, use a breast pump to suck the nipples several times a day, using the negative pressure to cause the nipples to bulge. |
