What are the dangers of nipple polyps?

What are the dangers of nipple polyps?

Nipple polyps are quite common in our lives. It may be caused by breast hyperplasia or breast tumors. In this case, female friends are advised to go for a thorough examination, because nipple polyps may be caused by malignant tumors, which will affect the patient's life safety and require surgical removal. Nipple polyps will also affect milk secretion.

The incidence of breast polyps is not high. It is recommended to go to a higher-level hospital for further examination to clarify the disease and rule out malignant tumors, and to undergo surgical treatment if necessary. In your case, it is considered that the skin polyps are caused by genetic proliferation of tissue cells, which are generally painless. Polyps rarely become malignant. If drug treatment is not effective, they can be removed surgically. If there are no symptoms, they can be left untreated.

Papillomas can be divided into anal papillomas, cervical papillomas, and vulvar papillomas. Anal papilloma is one of the common benign tumors of the anorectum.

Treatment principles

There are several treatments for anal papilloma:

1. Anal papilloma ligation and resection

Attention should be paid to the tight ligation to prevent slipping and bleeding; a decompression incision should be made below the ligature to prevent anal edema. It is suitable for smaller anal papilloma, has definite short-term efficacy, but a small number of patients will have recurrence in the long term. The treatment is simple and effective. Because anal papilloma is located at the anal dentate line, it is easier to expose and can be pulled out and ligated under local infiltration anesthesia. If the pedicle is long, the ligature should be tied at the base of the pedicle. Do not allow the residual pedicle to be too long, as this may cause anaerobic bacterial infection.

2. Anal papilloma resection and suture

It is suitable for larger anal papilloma, has definite efficacy and a cure rate of over 98%. For larger anal papilloma, simple ligation cannot be tied tightly because the papilloma tissue is tough, which can easily cause postoperative bleeding and recurrence. At this time, anal papilloma excision and suture can be used to suture the excessively large incision, which can both close the wound and stop bleeding. The operation is simple and easy to carry out widely.

3. Electrocautery for anal papilloma

The treatment is simple and the recent results are satisfactory. However, it is only suitable for patients with smaller tumors. If this method is used for patients with larger anal papilloma, it may cause postoperative scar contracture and anal narrowing. And it needs to be equipped with special equipment, which is not as convenient and easy as before.

4. Cryosurgery of anal papilloma

Cryosurgery is mostly used to treat hemorrhoids, but is rarely used to treat anal papilloma. It is more suitable when the tumor is small. Overall, the recurrence rate is higher, and freezing equipment is required. It is not as simple as the resection method, and it is not as easy to carry out as the resection method.

Treatment of vulvar papilloma: Local excision is the main treatment method, with a range of 0.5 to 1.0 cm outside the lesion, and the excised material must be sent for pathological examination.

Treatment of cervical papilloma: This type of tumor has the potential to become malignant, so early detection is necessary. If the tumor is confirmed to be benign by biopsy, tumor resection can be performed.
