What is the perineum?

There are many acupoints on the human body, which are closely related to people's physical health. When people have some diseases, they can stimulate the acupoints through massage, acupuncture, moxibustion, etc. to achieve the effect of treatment or relief. Perineum is an acupuncture point in the body, but people are not very familiar with it. Below we will introduce in detail what the perineum is.

Huiyin is the name of a meridian acupoint. From the "Acupuncture and Moxibustion Jia Yi Jing". The perineum is also known as the screen, lower pole, and golden gate. Belongs to the Ren meridian. In the perineum, for men it is the midpoint of the line between the base of the scrotum and the anus; for women it is the midpoint of the line between the posterior junction of the labia majora and the anus. There are branches of the perineal nerve and the perineal artery and vein. It is mainly used to treat drowning suffocation, coma, insanity, rectal prolapse, hemorrhoids, hernia, urinary obstruction, leucorrhea, irregular menstruation, genital itching, etc. Insert vertically 0.5-1 inch. Moxibustion with moxa cones for 3 times; or moxibustion with moxa sticks for 5-10 minutes

In mammals other than monotremes, the area between the external genitalia and the anus is called the perineum. In the early stages of mammalian development, a general excretory cavity was formed. However, due to a septum separating it, the perineum was formed, and the urogenital cavity was divided into the rectum on the back and the urogenital sinus on the ventral side by the ureterorectal septum, so that the anus and urogenital sinus could open to the outside of the body separately. The perineum of a female is not as long as that of a male, which is a clue to identifying males and females when the external genitalia have not yet differentiated. A perineal line can be seen on the midline of the perineal skin.

Self-care for the perineum

1. Flushing after using the toilet: After giving birth, women should flush their perineum with water after urinating or defecating, just like wiping with toilet paper, and flush from front to back to avoid bacterial infection.

2. Keep the wound dry: After going to the toilet or taking a shower, pat the perineum with tissue paper to keep the wound dry and clean.

3. Avoid exerting force: Do not exert force when defecating to avoid reopening the repaired wound.

4. Do not lift heavy objects: Within 1 month after delivery, do not lift heavy objects or do any housework or exercise that requires physical effort.

5. Avoid sexual activity: Sexual activity should be avoided within 6 weeks after delivery.

6. For swelling and pain, you can use Youdian: For those with severe lacerations and swelling and pain in the wound, you can add betadine to the water for a sitz bath, or use a heating lamp to speed up recovery. (Betadine can kill bacteria, warm water and heating lamps can promote blood circulation with high temperature)
