Can sexual intercourse improve dysmenorrhea?

Can sexual intercourse improve dysmenorrhea?

Many women experience dysmenorrhea during their menstruation. There are many reasons for dysmenorrhea, which may be caused by eating spicy or cold irritating foods, catching a cold due to not keeping warm, or not getting enough sleep and rest, etc. There is a saying that having sex can improve dysmenorrhea, is this true?

There is little relationship between dysmenorrhea and sexual life, that is to say, sexual life cannot solve dysmenorrhea. The specific introduction is as follows:

Every month or so, the endometrium of women of childbearing age undergoes cyclical changes: autonomous thickening, blood vessel proliferation, glandular growth and secretion, and endometrial collapse and shedding accompanied by bleeding. This cyclical vaginal discharge or uterine bleeding is called menstruation.

Old people often say "If there is no circulation, there will be pain." Some people explain it this way: this is because the cervix of unmarried women is tighter, and the exfoliated endometrium cannot be discharged smoothly, and gradually accumulates in the uterus. Therefore, every time menstruation comes, the uterus will swell and ache, which will cause dysmenorrhea. After getting married, the cervix becomes relaxed, menstrual blood can be discharged smoothly, and dysmenorrhea will be cured without medication. Therefore, there is a saying that sexual intercourse can cure dysmenorrhea.

Obstetricians and gynecologists believe that this statement is a complete misunderstanding. During sexual intercourse, the cervix is difficult to reach, and it is even more difficult to dilate it, and thus it is impossible to relax it. What's more, the nerves in the cervix are extremely sensitive, and dilating the cervix will inevitably cause women unbearable pain.

In clinical practice, the cervix can only be dilated during artificial abortion with the use of special medical devices, and it can only be dilated slowly, little by little. This is also the most painful stage for women during the abortion operation. Therefore, sexual intercourse cannot solve dysmenorrhea caused by uterine congestion.

Mineral bath

Add 1 cup of sea salt and 1 cup of sodium bicarbonate to a tub of warm water. Soaking for 20 minutes can help relax muscles and relieve menstrual cramps.

sports

Walking or engaging in other moderate exercise, especially before your period, will make you more comfortable during your period.

Practice yoga

Yoga also has a relaxing effect. Here are some examples. Kneel down with your knees bent, sitting on your heels. Rest your forehead on the ground and stretch your arms out at your sides. Hold this position until you feel uncomfortable.

Acupressure

The feet contain acupressure points that are believed to be connected to the qi pathways in the pelvic area. There are acupressure points in the depressions on both sides of the ankles. Gently pinch with your thumb and fingertips, and move up along the Achilles tendon to the calf muscle. After finishing the right foot, switch to the left foot and continue pressing each foot for a few minutes.
