Pelvic floor dysfunction

Pelvic floor dysfunction

There are many important reproductive organs distributed inside the female pelvic cavity, but both men can suffer from pelvic floor dysfunction. A large amount of medical practice has shown that women develop pelvic floor dysfunction 20 years earlier than men. This is mainly because every pregnancy and childbirth a woman has experienced will have an impact on her pelvic floor muscles. The following article explains in detail the knowledge about pelvic floor dysfunction diseases.

There are five types of pelvic floor dysfunction, each with different symptoms:

1. Organ prolapse, such as uterine prolapse, can cause a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, increased secretions, redness, swelling, heat and pain. The uterus prolapses from its normal position along the vagina, causing women to feel a sense of heaviness in the lower abdomen and back pain. If this kind of swelling lasts for a long time, it will cause friction with the vaginal wall during exercise, leading to inflammation, increased secretions, redness, swelling, heat and pain.

2. Fecal incontinence. Most of them occur in patients after surgery or trauma, and these patients are mostly treated in surgery or gastroenterology.

3. Urinary incontinence. There are three types of urinary incontinence: stress urinary incontinence, partial urinary incontinence, and a third type, mixed urinary incontinence, which is a combination of both. Stress urinary incontinence is commonly caused by urine leakage, which occurs when you cough, run, laugh, or sneeze. Some patients also have urge urinary incontinence, the main symptom of which is the feeling of urgency. When they run to the toilet, they have already leaked urine. Uncontrollable urine leakage is called partial urinary incontinence. Another type of urinary incontinence is unstable bladder, which is a combination of the first two conditions. Urinary incontinence, also known as "social cancer", has a great impact on women's quality of life.

4. Sexual dysfunction. An epidemiological survey in Guangdong Province found that among women aged 18 to 40, only 40% have orgasms. 18 to 40 years old is exactly the childbearing age, and most of these women have completed their reproductive function. Sexual dysfunction caused by pelvic floor dysfunction includes lack of orgasm, frigidity, pain during sexual intercourse, etc.

5. Chronic pelvic pain. Chronic pelvic pain is pelvic pain that lasts for more than six months or that persists or recurs. This pain is the number one killer affecting the quality of human life. It seriously interferes with the quality of life and even affects women’s personality and emotions.
