Heartburn in late pregnancy

Heartburn in late pregnancy

The entire period of a woman's pregnancy is about ten months. The last three months is called the late stage. At this time, the various organs of the fetus have been formed and develop faster in the final period. The burden on pregnant women will become heavier, and their movements will become more inconvenient, and they may even experience many discomforts, such as heartburn in the late pregnancy. At this time, you must pay attention to your diet and not eat too much greasy food. However, this is mostly a normal reaction and there is no need to worry.

What to do if you have heartburn and acid reflux during your 8th month of pregnancy

This is normal. Don't eat too many sweets. Eat some apples. In fact, vegetables and fruits are fine, but don’t eat too much whole grains such as sweet potatoes and potatoes as they are high in starch and sugar. It’s okay to eat the natural sugar in fruit.

Heartburn in pregnant women is caused by stomach acid, so we can eat some alkaline foods to relieve it. Lily, carrot, kohlrabi, chrysanthemum, cabbage, kale, hericium, black fungus, shepherd's purse, white fungus, etc. can all be used to neutralize stomach acid, and warm alkaline foods such as yam, leek, pumpkin, etc. are also suitable for pregnant women.

Heartburn in pregnant women will not affect the fetus, because this is a normal and common phenomenon. Changes in hormones and uterus during pregnancy will affect stomach activity. The feeling of heartburn will only affect the pregnant mother, so you don’t need to worry about the baby.

However, pregnant women with heartburn should still rule out stomach diseases, because people with excessive stomach acid will also experience heartburn. If this reason affects stomach digestion and appetite, it may affect the healthy development of the fetus.

Can pregnant women with heartburn take soda tablets?

Taking small doses will not have any effect, but long-term use will definitely have side effects. Because sodium bicarbonate is a drug for alkalizing urine and treating acidemia, taking too much will make the body's pH value too alkaline, which will naturally affect the fetus.

To prevent heartburn, special attention should be paid to your daily diet: do not eat too much, and do not drink a lot of water or beverages at one time, especially do not drink strong tea and beverages containing caffeine or chocolate, as they will aggravate the relaxation of the esophageal muscles; eat less spicy food, too cold or too hot food, because they will irritate the esophageal mucosa and aggravate the heartburn. Do not lie down immediately after a meal.

In addition, methods to relieve heartburn include: raising the head and foot of the bed by 15-20 cm when sleeping, raising the angle of the upper body. This can effectively reduce gastric reflux - just raising the pillow is not enough, because it is impossible to raise the angle of the entire upper body. Pregnant women with a history of constipation can eat more bananas and honey to make the stool softer and easier to pass. Strengthen physical fitness, prevent and treat respiratory infections, and avoid coughing.
