Is it normal for my period to last half a month?

After entering puberty, menstruation will occur due to the secretion of female hormones in the girls' bodies. Menstruation is a physiological phenomenon that will accompany normal women for decades. When a normal woman has her period, it usually lasts 3 to 7 days. A period of about a week is enough to indicate that the woman has a longer menstrual period. But what if a woman finds that her period has lasted for half a month?

Is it normal to have your period for half a month?

Normal menstrual bleeding usually lasts for 3 to 7 days. If it lasts for more than 10 days, it can be considered as prolonged bleeding. Excessive menstrual bleeding can be caused by many reasons.

The reason for the menstrual period

1. Pelvic inflammation, endometrial polyps, endometritis, etc. can cause menorrhagia and prolonged menstruation due to poor endometrial blood circulation, degeneration and necrosis, or pelvic congestion;

2. Chronic uterine hypertrophy (uterine myositis): Due to pelvic congestion and continuous increase in ovarian estrogen, the uterine muscle layer becomes thickened, resulting in menorrhagia and prolonged menstruation;

3. Uterine fibroids: especially submucosal fibroids, due to the expansion of the uterine cavity area, it contracts abnormally, which can lead to menorrhagia and prolonged menstruation;

4. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding: such as anovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding and irregular endometrial shedding, which can cause prolonged menstruation due to endocrine dysfunction;

5. Endometriosis: It affects the contraction of the uterine muscle layer or causes excessive menstruation or prolonged menstruation due to the enhancement of the endometrium.

This article explains what happens when a period is halfway through, I believe many friends know the answer. No matter what the reason is, I hope that you will go to the hospital for examination in time, find out the cause, prescribe the right medicine, regulate your endocrine system in time, and be a healthy and happy woman. I wish you all a happy life!
