What is vulvar leukoplakia?

The skin disease of leukoplakia is prone to appear in the genitals, so it is collectively called vulvar leukoplakia. Patients with vulvar leukoplakia need to pay attention to many things. At this time, you must wear loose and soft pants, and the underwear must be made of cotton. Never wear tight pants. Always keep the vulva area dry and ventilated, and avoid scratching with your hands, etc. Many people don’t know what vulvar leukoplakia is. Let’s take a detailed look at this skin disease.

What is vulvar leukoplakia?

Vulvar leukoplakia, formally known clinically as vulvar malnutrition or vulvar precancerous lesions, is a disease caused by cell damage. Due to the lesions of the cells, nutrients cannot be absorbed from the body, resulting in a decrease in the patient's body resistance and recovery. Years of illness have led to the occurrence of various gynecological diseases in patients, such as hardening, roughness, itching, ulcers, and cracks on the skin surface. Severe patients also have atrophy or hyperplasia of the vulva. Since more than 80% of patients will have varying degrees of whitening or graying of the vulvar skin, it is commonly known as vulvar leukoplakia.

Vulvar malnutrition can cause local lesions, which are divided into proliferative malnutrition, lichen sclerosus malnutrition, and mixed malnutrition according to the differences in its tissue pathological changes. Vulvar leukoplakia symptoms vary in different types and stages. Although there is no direct cause of this disease, factors such as the long-term moisture of the local skin of the vulva, the stimulation of vaginal discharge, and the failure to use Ph4 weak acid formula feminine care liquid for daily vulva cleaning may be related to its occurrence.

Symptom classification

Squamous epithelial hyperplasia

It is a vulvar disease with vulvar itching as the main symptom but the cause is unknown. Although it did not cause the disease

It is not the direct cause of the disease, but anatomical and physiological factors such as the long-term moisture of the local skin of the vulva and the stimulation of vaginal discharge may be related to its occurrence. This disease is more common in postmenopausal women, but it can also occur in women of childbearing age. Vulvar itching is the main symptom of this disease, which is difficult for patients to endure. For vulva cleaning, it is more suitable to use a feminine care solution with a Ph4 weak acid formula. Since scratching the area stimulates larger nerve fibers, it can inhibit the itch nerve fiber reflex and temporarily relieve the patient's itching. However, scratching can cause further damage to the skin, thereby triggering new itching reactions and making the itching more severe, forming a vicious cycle.

The range of vulvar lesions varies, mainly affecting the labia majora, interlabial groove, clitoral hood, posterior labia joint, etc., and the length is symmetrical. When the early lesions are mild, the skin color is dark red or pink, and the hyperkeratotic areas are white. Due to long-term scratching and friction, the skin becomes thickened like leather, the pigmentation increases, the skin texture is obviously prominent, the skin ridges are raised, and there are many small polygonal flat papules that are clustered into patches and develop lichenification. Therefore, this disease is also clinically called chronic simple lichen. Due to different degrees of local moisture, scratching and friction, as well as different responses to local medications, the morphology of lesions in different parts of the patient's body varies. In severe cases, scratching may cause epidermal scratches, cracks, and ulcers.

Vulvar lichen sclerosus

It is a skin disease characterized by atrophy and thinning of the vulva and perianal skin. Although the cause is unknown, there is a family history of the disease. Some scholars have also found that people with this disease usually also have autoimmune diseases such as alopecia areata, vitiligo, hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, indicating that this disease is related to autoimmunity.

Mixed malnutrition

Patients with hyperplastic and atrophic types of leukoplakia vulgaris generally develop mixed symptoms of the two types in the middle to late stages of the disease. The pathological manifestation is mixed malnutrition.
